Title: turn signal rate
Post by Robertomoe on 04/21/08 at 15:01:05

How fast do the turn signals flash on the savages?

Mine are flashing several times a second.  I thought I remember seeing them flash a lot slower, much like is common in cars.

I relocated the rear signals recently, but I dont see how that should affect the rate.

I replaced one of my turn signals and now that side flashes rather quickly.  I believe that the flasher flashes more quickly due to more current moving through it.  If that  is the case, there may be a short to ground somewhere after the signal, or it could be a difference in the type of bulb in the new signals.

i realized its just the left side, so Im going to dig around there.  I probably just didnt fully connect the plugs or something

Steely might be on to something with the diff in bulbs.  If the new bulb doesn't draw as much it would cause the relay to open/close faster.

I never replaced the bulbs, only relocated them

Sounds like a short to me.

Are all the bulbs actually flashing?   If one goes out, the flasher unit should flash faster.

One side of mine flashes faster with all bulbs flashing.  I am convinced that I have a short on the ground side...
