my oem tire(irc?) lasted less than 5 k on the rear on my 06...so how long will this $50 tire last you??
my point is i always spend the $$ on the skids..my car, my truck,my camper trailer...save money elsewhere not on your tread>>>>jmo

I agree 100% with that.  Your life is worth too much to risk it on a cheap tire.  You get what you pay for.  If it blows and you crash, you could end up in a wheelchair for the rest of your life, and believe me it happens.  You will curse yourself everyday if that happens, just because you wanted to save some $.  Money comes and goes, but you have a long life ahead of you.

If its a used tire you are buying, find out how old it is.  Rubber hardens and dry rots, and old tires that look really good can explode from dry rot.

I bought a Metzler ME880 for a reasonable price, through the Internet from

http://arizonamoto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=SWMT

Current cost is $120.95 + $14.00 shipping, unless you buy a front and rear tire and then shipping is free.

Some Savage owners have used the 190 size without issue, others have problems with it scraping the bike.

I forgot to mention that the Metzler ME880 I bought was in 140/80-15.  I considered buying the 90 size, but after reading that some Savage owners had scraping issues, I decided not to take the chance, considering the cost of return postage and my labor taking it on and off.

I am happy with this rear tire that I got from American Motorcycle Tire online.  I got it new for under 50$ and it is a perfectly fine tire.  I don't know how long it will last, but I think it feels more secure than the stock one that came with the bike.
