Title: Confining Handlebars Post by Jackhammer on 07/10/08 at 06:24:46 I wouldln't consider myself a tall person at 5'9'' but i feel like the handlebars are a little confining. I don't want anything like a 2 foot tall ape hanger, but does anyone have a suggestions for bars that give a little more space to stretch out and also look good? |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by photojoe on 07/10/08 at 06:36:51 My handlebars (buckhorns) are tilted forward pretty far, maybe that will help. I'm 5' 10" and they're very comfortable for me that way. |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by PerrydaSavage on 07/10/08 at 06:45:37 My '03 Savage had the stock buck-horn type bars and though I'm a smaller person (5'-4 1/2" @ 135lbs), I too found 'em a bit "confining" ... loosened the clamps and rotated the grips up and ahead and it made a world of difference to the overall comfort of the Ride and improved the steering as well! Now have an '05 S40 with the stock drag bar/pull-back riser combo and find that even better! 8-) |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by Jackhammer on 07/10/08 at 07:00:41 I didn't even think about tilting my existing bars forward. Thats actually a great idea. I'll try it this afternoon. perhaps that will save me some $$ instead of buying new. Thanks guys. If I do decide to go new though, i was looking at some fatty drag style bars. They are 33'' wide. Does anyone have bars this wide on a savage. I'm not sure if this will be too wide or not. |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by YonuhAdisi on 07/10/08 at 09:50:16 I put ten inch mini apes on the FireLizard and didn't even have to change the cables, just rerouted them a bit. They make a world of difference in comfort. |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by Mike from Pittsburgh on 07/28/08 at 13:09:20 Hey where did you get these bars from? I'd like to get a set. Thanks, Mike |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by YonuhAdisi on 07/28/08 at 13:29:01 I ordered them from the Harley dealership. They really didn't cost that much, about 50 to 60 bucks. |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by vandaman on 07/29/08 at 08:57:07 did the harley bars fit the stock risers or did you have to modify |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by YonuhAdisi on 07/29/08 at 09:54:52 As long as the bars are 1 inch, they fit. No mods to the risers needed. |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by Brad_THMP3R on 07/29/08 at 15:27:25 I've got 30" drag bars with a 15o pullback and stock riser. They feel amazing. They actually change the riding position so much that the seat feels wonderful! It's like riding a crotch rocket, cruiser hybrid. and the handling is that of a dirtbike. 1 drawback though, with the bar that low, you need to put a glove in between the bar and the tank when you park ;) It is well worth it though |

Title: Re: Confining Handlebars Post by Jay on 07/29/08 at 19:04:22 I too felt a little cramped with the position of my '08's bars. Before looking into $$$ nfor new bars, and the hassle of changing everything over; try reversing the risers. That's what I did, and problem solved. It extended my reach out a couple of inches, and took care of the cramped feeling I was having with the controls. |
