Title: Stock exhaust mod Post by ed daugherty on 07/26/08 at 13:16:56 Is the plate on the end of the muffler a restricter plate or does it hold the baffel? i was thinking of drilling it out but i don't want to take out the packing. I want a thumper sound and not a harley sound. I found a sound bite yesterday on this site and now i cant find it anymore. they had a few aftermarket pipes and 2 stock. the first stock is what you get. and the second was a nice thump but not overbearingly loud. I was also considering drilling 6 holes around the plate to relieve pressure but i don't know how that will sound. I want to get rid of that stupid chirping sound! I want to do this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z3gFY8NXVY ...but i don't know how. |

Title: Re: Stock exhaust mod Post by Kirk on 07/26/08 at 16:05:14 Hey ed here is the site you were referring to with the muffler sounds http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1151331237/0#0 I was wondering the same thing about the muffler drill out process because I want to get my stock savage to rumble a little more. I have been told to just purchase a harley used muffler but I would rather modify what I already have. Anyhow good luck on your research and welcome aboard. |

Title: Re: Stock exhaust mod Post by T Mack 1 on 07/29/08 at 08:16:08 Ed D. That Youtube video shows a Harley OEM take off muffler on a Savage. It's a very easy swap and most people (not all) are happier with the results of swapping vs mod'ing the stock muffler. |
