Title: Harley seat question Post by bugsville on 10/15/08 at 17:35:48 I searched for this info but couldn't find it, what year Sportster seat will fit the savage? I found a guy locally who has a nice one piece seat from a 99 Sportster that I am considering. Pics are below - can anyone give any opinions on it? http://www.bugsville.org/bugsmedia/_MISC/seat%202.jpg http://www.bugsville.org/bugsmedia/_MISC/seat%201.jpg |

Title: Re: Harley seat question Post by bugsville on 10/15/08 at 17:45:35 I am also looking at this one, but the guy doesn't know what year it came from. The first one I can actually go look at in person, this one is from online. Any opinions are appreciated! http://www.bugsville.org/bugsmedia/_MISC/de47_1.JPG http://www.bugsville.org/bugsmedia/_MISC/de47_2.JPG |

Title: Re: Harley seat question Post by seviersavage on 10/15/08 at 20:47:54 bugsville, In another thread someone stated that 2004 and later models fit. I found a 2002 seat a lot like yours and took a chance. You will need to do a little fabing to fit it. I bent down the rear mount on the fender, just used a hammer and bent it down to within an inch of the fender. Then I had to reposition the chrome tab on the back of the new seat and bent it to fit under the rear bracket. Then I made a slanted u shaped big bracket that bolted to the seat pan and lined up with the main mounting brackets for the drivers section on the bike. I also cut the pan where it could sit down on the frame more. Before I did that it was too high off the frame. The two cut outs fell right in the flat moulded bump stop looking shapes on the seat pan. for the front I just let it sit on the gas tank/ seat mount. also had to raise it a couple inces to come up and meet the seat pan. It's very sturdy and fits very nicely on the bike. I like it much better than the stock seat too. Hope that helps some. Seviersavage |

Title: Re: Harley seat question Post by Marin newbie on 10/30/08 at 09:37:56 I just might be your guinea pig. Last week I bought an item on e-bay described as "Seat for 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster - may fit others". If I weren't such an idiot and knew how to post a photo on this web site I'd show you, but for now you can see it at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110301927185&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&viewitem= When it gets here, i'll see if i can fit it on and let you know what happens. |

Title: Re: Harley seat question Post by verslagen1 on 10/30/08 at 11:23:03 I think both 2-ups will fit easily. These are similar to mine. You may need to releave the plastic pan some to make it fit better such as to clear those frame posts that stick up in the rear :-? and the rectifier. I think the solo and pillion can be made to fit too but not sure. |
