Title: I left it on Prime Post by odvelasc on 03/22/09 at 18:39:26 Yowser I left it on prime since thursday. I get home from work tonight and there is a thin puddle of gas around the bike in the garage. How do I clean the gas, and is my engine flooded? The gas leaked from the float bowl drain on my vm carb. P.S I should have my new raptor petcock next week to avoid this bozo-ness. |

Title: Re: I left it on Prime Post by Yonuh Adisi on 03/22/09 at 18:45:20 The raptor petcock is a manual petcock which means you will have to remember to shut off the fuel everytime you shut off the bike or you will repeat what you did with the prime. Gas evaporates pretty quickly. You may have flooded the bike. |

Title: Re: I left it on Prime Post by Savage Eddie on 03/22/09 at 18:47:50 yikes, i hate when that happens. throw some kitty litter on the puddle, sweep it up and wah-la! i thought about running a additional on-off valve in-line to prevent a oops. pull the dip stick and take a wiff! also stand the bike upright and see if its overfilled. then i might suspect a flooded motor situation. |

Title: Re: I left it on Prime Post by Reelthing on 03/23/09 at 10:06:28 As stated above I sure wouldn't try to start it without checking the oil - might just drain it any way and fill it with fresh oil just in case - sure doesn't take much raw gas in the oil to create a solvent out of a lube - which of course will burn up the cam "bearings" and likely the cylinder walls |

Title: Re: I left it on Prime Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/23/09 at 10:28:39 Absolutely change the oil. Itr might be fine, but if not, the cost of repairs will far outweigh the cost of an oilchange. If you dont start it, then you can keep the filter in. |
