Title: Tire Q's Post by BurnPgh on 11/04/09 at 16:18:02 Im running gs450 wheels front and back tubeless. Im satisfied with the 100/90 I've got on the front but am needing to replace my rear 130/90 soon. Getting the bead to set with the 130 was quite a PITA as theres quite a bit of space between the rim and the bead area of the tire, and Id like a bit wider tire. Rim stamped at 2.15 x 16. Anyone think a 140/90 would be a bad idea? Think setting the bead would be a bit easier with less space between the rim/bead area. |

Title: Re: Tire Q's Post by BurnPgh on 11/04/09 at 21:46:08 i was thinkin that if nothing else. But i was hoping to go 140/90. The 130's I have dont seem too big for the rim at all but as i said I had a hell of the time getting the beat to set the first time around. I was hoping a slightly wider tire would make setting the bead easier. Got a flat and made the mistake of sitting on the bike to turn it around. Bead broke. I dont have a high pressure air compressor and couldnt get the bead back with my dinky little emergency air pump. My buddy with the compressor wasnt available. I had a tube so i figured...i'll make it a quick repair and throw a tube in there just to hold out the last couple weeks before it gets too cold. I need a new rear tire anyway so...i'll take care of it come spring time. Pinched the tube SIX, 1,2,3,4,5,6 SIX freakin times. I finally just got too exhausted to wrestle the tire back on again so Im heading to a shop to get a new tire (might aswell) and have it mounted/balanced/etc tomorrow. |
