I've missed this place over the holidays, Happy New Year to ya Alice. I passed my last written exam for my 2nd class engineer's ticket. The usual celebratory drink, please, your finest single malt scotch, neat. The end of my studies is near, just a first aid course and then the oral exam. Been a very long road but the finish line is in sight....until I start on my Chief's ticket in two years.

Alice, a round, no make that two rounds for the house! I got my 2nd class Marine Engineer ticket today. A long road and a few stumbles on the way but it is a BIG step in my career. :D :D :D

Hi guys....newbie here. So brand new she has not even taken her course yet (scheduled for May 28th weekend).

But I did just get my new 2007 Boulevard S40 home Saturday from Edmonton, nice ten hour trip to pick it up, put it in the back of the Avalanche.

Then my husband and a buddy was unloading it yesterday and when he untightened the strap the handlebar slipped out out of his hand and BANG it fell against the side of the truck...BIG dent in the side of the gas tank. :'(

It sure WAS a pretty bike. :o

anyway...not sure why I am posting, I guess I just want some sympathy. ha

It's about 3" by 1.5" and there is a scratch and paint chip...I have no idea how much this will be to fix (anyone? ballpark?), but we will likely wait until after riding season anyway.

sigh :-[

Left side, not much you can do except try the dry ice, but that sounds too big for that to work on it. Right side you can get to it, maybe. It will take some clever tool making & very gentle use to straighten it up. A used tank may be the cheapest way to go. You can clean it up, prep it & have it painted. For now, I wouldnt sweat it. Get 10,000 miles on it & get good at Not Dropping it before you go making it all cherry again.

thanks guys....that is what we were thinking too, we'll wait until late fall/winter to fix it, being new to riding I may have a couple other dents and scratches by then. ::) Hopefully minor ones, if any, though!

I doubt I will have to replace it, it's not that large? although I guess it is worth comparing prices. I doubt I will try to fix it myself either, I'll just take it into a body shop. (It's on the right hand side right below the Boulevard' insignia.)

The First Amendment does not strictly apply to a private forum. The owner or administrator of the forum can make and enforce whatever rules they see fit. That would specifically include deleting any posts which do not comply with forum rules. If the person or persons whose posts are deleted is unhappy about it, they don't have to return.

I don't understand, Sluggo. The site has the following warning:

"UNLESS YOU POST IN THIS THREAD THAT YOU WILL ABIDE BY THE GUIDELINES YOUR POSTS WILL BE DELETED!"

The coward anonymous poster has posted under several member, ex member names, and never agreed to the rules. According to the list of members online, you were sometimes online when his posts were at the top of the Cafe list. Despite almost everyone of his posts having detailed, descriptive sexually obscene personal attacks against at least 3 members, and despite his never agreeing to the rules, nothing is or was deleted. Yet the site rules quoted above say the posts will be deleted. If it is not your place to delete due to 1st amendment rules, who's place is it to enforce the stated forum rules through deletion of posts?

yes, I believe in god, but I don't believe in the organized churches of this modern day. I know what you mean. I got a vertebrae that won't sit straight. Have to pop it back into place when ever I get a chance. When it was really hurtin', they had a pretty young thing do it for me. when i was in LA i would ride to the beach, smoke a bowl with a stranger, then ride home pickup wife go to mc donalds, then home to open presents.

we're dinks (duel income, no kids) so we never had to deal with the kids and all that encompass'. ya know, "i didn't get what i want, i don';t like it, ect/

Bartending, chauffeur, waiter.
Most places give you one or the other off,but I always volenteered to work, big money nights. And I never really cared for Christmas,

My Christmas tradition has become "try to get through it, and be able to pay the credit cards the following year..."

Traditions have changed over the years. Lately, we get together with my husband's family on Christmas Eve and my family on Christmas Day. Get our kids (1 mine + 3 his, all from prior marriages) whenever we can. And now we try to throw in some whitetail hunting too!

Our traditions have been that I do the tree and Hubby does the lights and other outside decorations.
Usually we both cook as I am working and trying to rest so I can go back to work that night.
This year being I am still not back to work, were having his twin brother, g/f and their lil dog come to visit. They will be here Christams Eve afternoon and go back Christmas Day.
I will be baking a Turkey as well as a Ham. I will also make a corn bread dressing like my Mom makes. This is a dressing recipe that has been in the family since before I was born. It really is good..
Then I also make my own croutons for a bread dressing.
Plus the usual side dishes, so we will all have full tummies.
Gift exchanges yet no credit card expenses. I have never been one that thought you should go beyond your budget just because it is Christmas.
I am hoping hubby and I can take the bikes out for a ride after company leaves or else the following day.
Oh and if your in the neighborhood, drop in as we will have plenty of food to share.. Happy Holdiays everyone. Hugs.. Kim and family :)

Shar and me spend alternating years with the family, and getting out of town. This year is get out of town year, but I waited to long to put in my vacation times. Though I only had 3 days left, but have 5, so being that I work a 4 day week, I'll get 9 days off in a row. But, and a BIG BUTT, I waited too long and got stuck with the Days from Christmas Eve on to 1/1/2011 and airfares are through the roof for that week. Unless some freak sale happens, we'll wind up driving somewhere on the East Coast.

We enjoy staying in big old empty hotels on Christmas Day. Maybe go back to Pa. and do some outdoor shooting. Anyone know where I can get some Santa targets 8-) Just kidding of course, I can find them on sale everywhere after Christmas ;D

here in washington they are tweaking the law, it may come down to "this" or that to deal with chronic pain suffer's. the feds don't recongize the voter mandated law. the mess with the dr. threating their drug dispensing power.
after ten years my dr is moving to spokane to practice, why is it dr's practice and patients complain. i'm sure it's the language of their craft. :o

the gov decided that it should be up to local muncipalities on how to controll sales..
our city council decided to out law shops them then decided it will be on the next elections ballot

Hey Alice, hope you have enough snacks to go with the drinks tomorrow. It is less than 24 hrs till the Seahawk's take on the Saint's.

Great choice there pal. That stadium is gonna be rocking today. We were season ticket holders for seasons 2002 thru 2005. I personally know how the 12th man helps the team...
