Title: license plate....
Post by Rocco on 01/24/10 at 21:13:56

ok, so i've been wantin to trim my rear fender for a while, BUT we can't go vertical license plates here in florida, so i can just drill it into the back of my ammo box like i wanted to.

also, i have to light it obviously, if i mount it straight out on the right side that would require a different light.

do you think it would look bad stickin out on the right side?

could i just cut and tape off the wires going to the old license plate light?

maybe i could still mount the plate on the ammo box straight out, and put a white light on the fender shining on the plate?

just throwin ideas out, that and the freakin battery box that i still don't know what to do with!!

They have some nice looking ones!

BTW, anybody ever bought from that seller before?  I had a couple of their turn signals on watch, contemplating relocating and changing my rear signals.  They are pretty inexpensive.... not sure if they are "cheap"!

I haven't, but I got the link from someone here who did, and they were very happy...  I saved the link for future use, 'cause I thought they had some cool stuff... ;)

Depends on where you mount,.. but probably, yes...

just have to snake it out from under the fender, and thread it to where you want...

I just picked up a plate holder from eBay that allows you to convert from vertical to horizontal with the loosening of two screws. Should be here this week and I'll take some pictures of it installed.

As far as those light up bolts, I've heard they aren't that great. I've never used them myself, but know some Jeepers have and weren't happy with them.

I didn't come up with a solution yet, but didn't get pulled over yet. ;)

If you need to make a wire longer, Id sure suggest soldering as opposed to a butt splice, especially in a coastal state. Liquid electrical tape or heat shrink beats tape.

well i've heat shrunk and taped all of my wire connections, no problems so far!!

i saw on a custom today, the license plate went straight up, not down, lights and everything.

maybe i'll make a bracket to put it behind the seat, and above the brake light....hmmmm

or i'll just shut up and figure out what to do with the battery box lol
