Title: Found some money
Post by ALfromN.H. on 05/23/10 at 19:26:17

I don't know if anyonme else has done this but I typed in a search for N.H. missing money and I got this site:

http://www.missingmoney.com/main/index.cfm

After typing in my name and state, I came up with two hits in my name. One is from an insurance company that owes me $10.50 for overpaid premium or something like that and the other one is for over $700.00 plus there are some stocks out there in my name also. So you might want to give it a try. Let us know if you come up with anything.

They said the did not California but used a link to California State Government.  I didn't find lost money for mine, but did see about $250 that my brother lost some for Colorado State.  (Was zip 90749 instead of 90249 so that probably caused the miss money.)

Thanks for the information of lost (not really "some") money.

There are very strict "unclaimed property" laws.  I used to manage the unclaimed checks for a very large global company.  Payroll, accounts payable, travel, anything we might have cut a check for.  States have different times for when such property is considered unclaimed.  If memory serves, the average was about 7 years, but some were as low as 2 years.  And this company had a manufacturing plant, or at least several salesman, in every state.  And all I handled were un-cashed checks.  Maybe that's why I do everything electronically now.  Different rules apply to electronic payments.

But yes, there could be money out there for anyone that they don't know about.  Thanks for posting! And congrats on your find!  You gonna share it too?   ;)
