Well a bobber aint a car,duh.Last I knew a bobber was a derivative of a bike.
I guess a cafe style isn't a bike.It's either  a cafe or a bike?

Im not diggin the zaust pipe. Maybe if the fork was symetrically done, so that the high & low sides were above & below the main header Id like it better. Its artsy, but kinda fartsy, IMO. The neck down looks odd to my eye. Maybe if the header came back at one diameter & then forked into 2 smaller pipes it wouldnt make my eye go "Huhh".
Otherwise, as bobbers go, its a nice lookin thang. Just couldnt ride something w/ no front fender. Too much dirt & stuff in the roads out here. It'd be a miserable ride.

that's true, a stock savage is a bike ,a stock BSA Gold Star is a stock cafe racer. A bobber is something you do to a bike for no reason, it doesn't go any better, it definatly does not handle any better, and it looks bloody awful.
But as you all keep saying "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder" I guess thats true, otherwise there would never be a bobber.
Cafe style has been around since the 50s how about bobbers.?

There were lots of things around in the 50's... Lots of things have gone and been replaced by something better. But if I were a betting man, I'd say the bobber predates the cafe bike.

HD makes the cross-bones, a factory built bobber... So are they legit now? Can we consider them to be real bikes now? I think anyone who builds a bobber has "a reason". For HD, I'm sure it was out of public demand. I see a lot of them around, more so than any cafe.

This is a nice bobber, mostly. Really clean, cool headlight move & is that a scoop for the breather? I don't like the pipe at all. Looks like a limp thingy flopping in the wind... Not cool.

You have your opinion, and you do not like bobbers, but the truth is that bobbers definately do faster and quicker and handle better.

Cafe bikes, just as Bobber bikes, take a stock bike and reduces weight.  Cafe and Bobbers both keep the stock frame and riding.  Different between Cafes and Bobbers is the lower seat and peg position of a Standard versus of a Cruiser.

Jesus Christ,
the saying I used earlier was an old Churchill saying, While in Parliment one of his best sayings was to Bessy Bradock A member of the labor paty ,she said to Churchill " Sir Winston you are drunk" he said " yes miss Bradock I am,and you are ugly, tomorrow morning I will be sober".
the note I made about the bobber is on simular lines,if you don't see that then I'm sorry.
I am not supid ,I love all motor cycles ,I just love giving newbees a bad time, get over it earlytimz.

You sir, are drunk! (just saying)

Sorry, I don't see it, so I guess you're sorry... Don't worry though, I'm already over it!

I got it.  He wasn't saying a bobber isn't a bike, he was implying that a bobber isn't a good looking bike.  The scoop/side cover is my favorite part.  That upper exhaust pipe doesn't even look functional.

I kind of think of bobbers as the 'merkan cafe racer. Stripped of everything unessential and made to go fast.

I like it, yet is that seat comfy as looks like it needs more padding.
What I am questioning is does the seat have springs under it that we can't see? Or do the shocks make it comfy?

I let each ride and do what they want to their bikes. If I see one I like I will spend time looking it over. If it does not grab my attention even a lil I will keep walking.

I don't look twice at a man.. However at a bike, that is a different story. Hell I have almost broken my neck looking twice at a bike... ;)

Hard to tell from this angle, but it is possible that the seat is sprung in the rear. As far as comfort goes, everyone's backside is different, but by moving it back what looks like 4-6 inches it has done the same as putting forward controls on it. I imagine moving the rider's weight back that far might have some effect on the handling though  :-/

I didn't know that when did they first start putting fenders on bikes.

A very long time ago.
the pic below is an ABC "Assocated british cycle" circa 1905.
I actually rode one for about 100 yards before the push rods flew out.
it was a daily rider he bought it in to have new valve springs on it,
took a while to get um,but we fixed it.

WWII Harleys had fenders, after the war soldiers took these bike home (don't know how) and started stripping the sh*t out of them to make faster, the end result is what we know as bobbers. The term bobber is from "Bobbing" the fenders. So technically bobbers date as far back as 1945  ;)

It looks like a cafe bike...

I'm kidding! It's a good looking ride & has LOTS of good comments on it in the original thread. Casey did an outstanding job & if I remember correctly, he's selling kits for them too.

This old knucklehead bobber ran just over 120 mph at the Texas Mile. It would probably have done better but it sounded sick!( not the Good kind)
