Title: 1979 Suzuki GS 550 Post by Skid Mark on 06/23/10 at 17:31:17 It was parked outside the bank today. A few nicks on the tank decals and the paint has faded slightly but otherwise in mint condition. I spoke with the owner. It has 150k km on it. He bought it from friends of the family. It runs like a top. If I has my camera with me I would have got a couple of pics. You don come across an older bike like that too often. It's his 1st bike. I sure hope he appreciates what he has!! |

Title: Re: 1979 Suzuki GS 550 Post by babyhog on 06/24/10 at 05:16:45 We had some beautiful weather last week. A couple of our Harley "owners" (I say owners because they don't ride much) actually rode to work a few days. But one guy, that I didn't even know had a bike, rode his too -- 1979 Sportster that he bought new.... 30 years ago. Only owner. It was a little rough, but overall not bad for its age! Cool to see old bikes survive... |

Title: Re: 1979 Suzuki GS 550 Post by spacepirates on 06/24/10 at 06:33:39 my first bike was a 1981 kawasaki kz440 ltd. after i got the savage, the 440 was gifted to my father, who still rides it around (on occasion). it has some rust on the underside of the mufflers and an oil leak or two (minor) but still runs just fine. bikes seem to last pretty much forever if you either a) care for them properly or b) don't ride them! |
