Stories like this just baffle me.

Serious problems? YA THINK?

No telling what kind of meds the poor thing has been on. Like the Columbine kids, & every woman Ive ever heard of who killed her kids. Not sure about that crazy broad who strapped her kids in the car & ran it in the lake several years ago, but every other one Im pretty sure has been on some kind of psychiatric medication. A quick read of potential side effects tells me to never take them, again. I was on them, for a long time & they did create suicidal tendencies. Once I was ACCURATELY diagnosed, I started getting better. I was full of toxic crap, heavy metals/pesticides & stuff left over from industrial chemical exposures. FWIW, Ive never seen anyone "made right" by the pharmaceutical crap they stuff down peoples throats who are having problems & I met a bunch of broken people while I was hospitalized & Ive been hospitalized 17 times.

Post-postpartum psychosis is real -- it's a bad reaction to the flood of hormonal changes that happen after childbirth.

I have one friend (who shall remain nameless) whose husband came home from work and found her intently watching the TV set -- but only she could see the programs. She spent a month on the psych ward, dad and grandma got really good at changing diapers and everything went well till kid number two came along. That time she pretty much segued from the maternity to psych.

Aside from those two episodes, no psych problems.

I always think of her whenever I hear of one of those sad cases of mothers killing their kids.

I guess just the fact that this was EIGHT babies and she hid it every time! And was over several year period of time. For her to go through 9 months of pregnancy, and keep it from everyone, then go through the motions of the actual killing, then hide/bury the body, and cover it up all those years!?!! Then multiply that by EIGHT !!
Post-partum, whatever the issues, and I don't dispute real/true diagnoses of actual problems, but I don't see how someone with something like that could have had the "smarts" to cover all that up..... EIGHT times!

I will tell you all post partum is real. I was taken to the Dr as I thought I was going crazy and family didn't know what was going on either.
I was asked by the Dr if I was feeling suicidal or was having intensions of harming my baby? I said no to both as I never thought of either one.
Once the Dr spoke to me and made me realize it happens to some women and I wasn't going crazy, I started feeling better. I was fortunate to not have to go on medication.
I belive that family members and friends need to pay close attention to women not only durig pregnancy but after child brith as well.
One should never be made to feel ashamed that they may need some mental help.
I thank my family especially my Mom for taking hold and getting me the help I needed.
I thank the Dr for taking time and listening to me and helping to get me back onto the road of recovery. :) kim

Piglet did the article mention the womans size ? Sometimes really fat woman can disguise pregnancy just by the fact they are fat..
A young woman (17) in our town recently gave birth in walmart,no one knew she had allways been huge. Anyway that would not explain the killing. Like Serowbot said it could be an instinctual thing,who knows ?

Well, that will never happen. The point is prospective parents need to be screened or something to ensure they have the necessary skills, medical care, etc. to engage in parenting. If those skills are lacking perhaps some sort of pre-natal medical care, nutritional awareness, and child rearing training could be arranged.

Aint got a thing to do with selfishness. it MORE GOVT INTRUSION & power over our lives. This would grow as surelyas it existed. Theirs a lot of unmarried mothers getting money from the government for theirs kids,Mainly in black neighborhoods were some have a lot of kids the more kids the more money they get,Maybe there should be a limit to 2 kids and no more money if they have more kids.I think that would slow it down a little.

I dont understand "pride" in anything I didnt accomplish on my own. It would be like being "Proud" of being tall, an accident of genetics, just as being American is just an accident of birth. I AM Happy I am American as opposed to so many other options, but to be Proud of it would seem to me to be rather difficult to do.

What our govt has devolved into is shameful.

Now I could officialy say I'm proud to be an American,unlike most of you guys I had to jump through hoops to become one.
First I had to apply for a immigrents visa and green card ,in all that took 3 years of paper pushing, interviews, running back and forth to the US Embassy in Berkley Square London just to dot an i or cross a t.
And then the dreaded interview with the Consulate general, (remember by this time my Dad was a citizen) I sat down in front of him ,his first words were "Why haven't you got a Batchelors degree ?"
I told him the truth ,I didn't know what a fu*king batchelors degree is,let alone have one,Then he went on to tell me that most Americans had collage degrees, I said "Wow that's amazing,they must all be very clever" I went on to say that if all these brainiacs are doing there thing they must need people like me to chauffeur them around, or become a butler ,or a valet, I said I heard American love English butlers" I said my Sister went to Kentucky and was a nanny to the Haliburtons (true) ,he stamped my visa and said "good luck"
5 years later I took a short American history class and became a citizen. Seeing America is only 250 years old the history class was very easy.
All that being said.
I will be going back to England soon for a visit, guess what passport I renewed ? Yes sir,my British one.,britain is one of the few country's that you can never lose your citizenship,if you are born british you die british. What the heck I might renew my US passport just in case.
Now, am I proud to be an American ?

My mother was naturalized - Canadian- took the test and everything in her 40's. I was born here. But to tell the truth, I am not proud of the US-. It is a mean country, aggressive, cheating, racist, and stingy. But that is only 1/2 the country. The other half is open-hearted, tolerant and forgiving. I am proud of that part of the US. This woman in France did what many Americans have done, killed their children. I don't hate them for it. I wouldn't burn them at the stake. I just wonder why they were so unhappy, or were they ill. I've seen animals kill their young - when they thought they couldn't manage. I think that is why abortions take place. Life is not easy. Yes we can always be tougher, but some of us don't have that ability. They are the ones who need help from the rest of us. We all help others, even the angriest of us and least tolerant of us. It is like gardening, it is what you put into it, and even then it may not be enough, and we have to try again. :)

No, my mother taught me to be responsible for what I do.
And that would include not being stupid enough to get knocked up in high school. Alaska does have condoms, birth control pills and free clinics just like the lower 48.

And Sarah Palin came into the conversation because she was the first person that popped into my head when I thought about the spay-neuter comment = and that applies to the French person in that a hysterectomy/vasecomy would have solved some problems in both cases.
