Title: Fall is here :(
Post by kimchris1 on 08/31/10 at 08:30:34

It appears Fall has arrived here in Wa. State. At least where I live. It is a cool, 54 degrees, windy and rainy day.. No walk as of yet. I may try and get one in later if it slacks up some.  Is a good day to catch up on some reading...
I can only hope we get some sunshine back and this is only a fluke.. :) kim

I noticed that Kim. My last ride on this continent was in the rain.
I guess it was a going away present.

I'm sorry Kimmy, its 89 and beautifully sunny here right now.  Supposed to get to 95 and have high of 95 the rest of the week.  But overnight lows are getting lower -- like lower 60's.  But it is supposed to cool off here by the weekend.  High 72 for Saturday.  What a difference!  I'm getting as much riding in as possible while I can!  I can't believe today is the last day of August.

Phelonius, take the rain with you, as you know your going to miss it...

Piglet, make sure my spirit doesn't fly off the back of your bike on your way home..:)

C@ap! Sept is just as hot as august here. Falls still another month away. Untill the trees start to turn its SUMMER!
Farmers almanac is calling for above average moisture and below average temps this winter. Predicting a nice blizzard in mid january...lol

Ill ride till one of two things happen. Roads get a bit of ice or it goes below 20 degrees.
Then ill just ride the quad...lol

I know what you mean! Every time fall comes and I know its getting close to the time to garage the bike for the winter, it always makes me sad.  It's also dangerous here in the Northwest. Lots of wet falling leaves in the street.

September and October are usually the two best months of the year for riding...can't stand that blistering hot and humid stuff. I'll take a crisp fall day anytime.

hi kim - I am just sout of you in Portland OR today - leaving for home shortly.....feels like a NC fall morning here today - but the sun is coming out just in time for me to go home to the freakin hurricane!

Too bad your visit to the NW didn't last a little longer. I hope that Earl doesn't do much   damage to your area.

Yes their is definetly the feeling of Fall in the air. As I started my morning walk early this a.m. their was a thin layer of fog across the area. A cool chill in the air. As the sun finished rising the fog soon lifted. I ended my walk with sunshine and warmer fingers than when started..

I was enjoying it too.  Fired up the bike to do some errands around town (bookstore, and pick up some cold weather gloves on sale @ CycleGear! :D), and then just cruised around until after dark, enjoying the warm day.  Ended up on the west side of Vancouver lake at a little park on the bank of the Columbia River at sundown, and sat and watched the awesome colors.  Wish I'd had the camera! :(  I'm afraid we're not going to get too many more days that pleasant here in the soggy NW. :P

Woke up to a cool 37o today  :(

I start my new job tomorrow, and for some reason I think I will plan on taking the cage for the next few days if it stays this cool. After a week or so on the job I will switch to 2 wheels and enjoy the daily commute again  ;D

Kim ,why on earth did you leave Florida ?
I'm the next state down to you ,and I am begining to dislike Oregon, did we have a lousy summer this year ,or is it me.
I am allready turning my electric blanket on before I go to bed,
It's another gray day today. Come on Summer.

Mick, sometimes we go thru life changes that lead us to other places. That is how I ended up here from Fla.
It is a cool and damp day here as well. I was able to go for my walk at 6:30 a.m. The cool air did feel good while walking.
We are not scheduled to get above about 67 degrees all week :(..
Summer what is that? What few days we did have, seem to have gone back into hybernation.
I am still thinking road trip to Ca may be what this gal needs.. ;)  kim

Still warm and dry in the Columbia Basin. We just finished cutting the hay for the last time this year. Hopefully it will stay dry and warm enough to cure it so it can be baled and sold. Spring was so wet and cold that the farmers here will only get 3 cuttings vs the normal 4, but the yield is almost the same. Prices per ton are not all that good compared to a couple years ago, but my B-i-L farmer says all in all it has been an OK year farming, he has had the 4th surgery on the left upper leg bone he shattered 4 years ago skiing. Has managed the farm from the big chair lots lately. I don't own a farm, just the old farm stead house and buildings and I'm not the help I used to be between hernias from multiple colon surgeries and ongoing chemo treatment, but did managed to swath the chow relief both days. Used to figure memorial day, 4th of July holidays were working days for this retired guy.

FWIW, I was getting back in my PU at the ACE hardware store when I heard SLUGGO got puttin' by, that old supertrapp still sounds good even though most of the packing must be gone from it by now. Supposed to be on the high 70's so I'm scootin' off for a Seattle paper soon. I lived in Juneau, AK for a couple years and a couple summers while going to college and don't need wet cold weather ever again, even got so we go to AZ for part of the winter now and drive the sidecar we keep there. Phelonis definitely has the right plan in motion. Max

Afew wet leaves stacked in a curve is way daggumed dangerous. Toss in a few of those blasted Gum Balls off the elm trees & it can get downright crazy.
Theres a real sweet little bend in the road not far from home that gets totally treacherous in the fall.

I was bob tailing my rig years ago ,actualy on my way to pick up a trailer ,I barely touched my brakes on wet leaves ,I must have spinned that baby around 3 times befor it stopped up against the curb, amazingly I didn't hit a thing, that was not drivers skill it was pure luck,I found a place to park and smoked 3 cigarettes in a row.
I respect wet leaves now I tell you, scared the ka ka out of me.
