Post by Paladin. on 09/08/10 at 20:33:28

1 1/3 pounds top sirloin, $5.33; 1/2 lb chopped onion, $0.17; 1/2 oz margerine, 1/4 cup flour, dash salt and pepper, Worcestershire and a dash of Arizona Gunslinger (red pepper sauce -- everyone has their favorite) -- not much, maybe two bits; 6oz canned sliced mushrooms, about four bits; cup of sour cream, $1.25; can tomato soup, $0.75; 12 oz egg noodles, $1.50
-----------------------------
About $10, $2.50 per meal.

Looks good!

Next time, try it with some fresh 'shrooms.  Or maybe some of the dried shiitake -- they'll pick up the flavor of the sauce when you boil 'em in it.  You could consider the canned straw mushrooms in the Asian foods section, too.

Ain't it fun how you can make little changes for variety!
