The w 650 has a pretty high seat maybe 31 or a little more and not much patting to it. To tall for me at 5 6

Very British looking and at 5' 7" a tad to tall for me.on the right side of the engine is that a OHC drive cover a phony ? if it really does have OHC engine it should go faster than the origional (Triumph) .
I for one like the colour, isn't that kawasaki's factory colour ?
I'm guessing about 8 large $ .

It would look good with a Ural sidecar.
Maybe I will buy one for when I wear out the DR.

Im 5'6", the older W650 seat isnt contoured for the thigh. I can handle it easy enough. I wear a 30" pantleg.

& yes, it has a gear driven O/head cam.

Here we are, a bunch of folks ostensibly dedicated to Thumpers, drooling over a Triumph look-alike Twin. I noticed from the linked article that the original W650 was "hampered by its 49 hp engine." And we are dedicated to a 25 hp Thumper.

When Kawasaki brought out the W650, they didn't intend it to be a slow seller. It didn't sell well in the US, so they dropped it (just as Suzuki dropped the slow-selling Savage in the '80s). Only after the cruisers started selling did Suzuki slightly revamp the Savage and reintroduce it because they needed a low-priced intro cruiser.

Suzuki also had a Triumph look-alike, back in '83. It was called the GR650 Tempter, and was rated a best buy by at least one motorcycle magazine. It only lasted a couple of years, and was dropped. You can bet it wasn't dropped because it sold too well.

Based on that limited history, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the W800 in the US. And if it does get introduced, I suggest you buy one (if you want one) early, because I'd bet against it being here more than a year or two.

Back in 1983 I had 2 GR 650s.I really liked the bikes,But most people liked the 4 inlines because the were fast.

I have been looking at it on other web sites and I think it will be on sale here in the USA,I was wondering just about all of us love the bike ,I think we must all be old fashiond,it's why we buy the Savage, But I tell ya mates if my hand improves enough to actually hold the left handlebar and pull in the clutch, one of thos puppy's will be mine,I will have to sell the Miata, boo hoo  :'(

At your age you should know what a pain in the a$$ a kick start can be,
Idealy it should have both.
They don't make motorcycles like they used to,thank god.

you bet they're a pain but far less of a pain than a dead battery out some place - yep I'd like both on a bike - only one in the stable here that has both a '89 tw200 and it needs it - little battery in the thing dies at the drop of a hat - don't think I'll ever buy a dirt/street with a electric only just too many ways to kill the battery in the rough stuff

TWs are a hoot!  That's why I have had three over the years.
And I still have one.
