Title: Your bikes and pictures
Post by kimchris1 on 09/30/10 at 08:31:52

I thought it would be nice if we all listed how many and makes as well as year of bikes we have owned. I realize some are new and haven't had maybe more than one. Yet again for the ones of us that have been fortunate enough to have more than one,  they can share their stories. Oh and pics are welcomed as well..

My first bike was a 2005,  50 cc Yamaha Zuma Sports scooter.
then I had for a brief time. 2000,  600 Honda Shadow VLX,
2007. 250  New Honda Rebel.. Loved it after the first 1200 miles.
Then in 2009 My present bike.. My beloved Genie..2009 S-40, 650

So come on guys and gals, post those stories and pics..  :) kim

Kimchris,

I have been riding for over 50 years, and have probably owned that many different bikes, some for only a couple of months, and some for years.  The problem is that I am almost 65 and have the memory to go along with it.  At my age, I tend to live in zen time.  My bike is what I am riding currently, an 03 LS650.  Besides, a gentleman never discusses previous loves.

Pretty short list for me too.
2008: March, bought an '08 S40, red.  Wish I'd kept it, but couldn't afford it and another one, and I'm not about to stop with my first ever bike. ::)
2010: March, bought an '09 C50, green and white.  I like this bike, but it'll get traded eventually too I'm sure.  So many bikes to try, so little money! >:(

I started on a '70 Kawasaki 90.
Took a break (broke) and then got a Yahama 250 Tri-moto around 86.
Took another break (broke again) then got a 2008 S40.
I kept the S40 for 2 years then got a 2009 Suzuki C50.
Each bike was and is a lot of fun. I sure hope I won't have to take another break. :)

2007 50cc Honda Metropolitan which I ride to work -my 17th anniversary present fro my husband  :-*

2005 Harley Davidson XL 1200 R Sportster - still have it but I didn't like it  :-[
(clutch too stiff, bike too tall & top heavy) My husband takes turns riding his Fat Bob & the Sportser. He refuses to sell the Sportster because he thinks someday I'll be brave enough to try it again -NOT!!!

2009 Suzuki Boulevard s40 (my pride & joy) My husband got me the s40 after we took our son for the MSF classes.By that time I had already given up on the sportster and decided I just couldn't ride motorcycles. After watching them do the classes it dawned on me that the sportster was too big.Long story short - I told my Husband I wanted a rebel which both he and my son replied no,you don't so I pouted until we went looking for a Rebel for me.My son spotted the s40 and it was love at first sight!  :)

I started out on a Honda Trail 50 when I was little. I took a long break from riding (while I was married). I had a 1983 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim for a while, currently have my 2007 S40 and a 2007 Suzuki Burgman.

Lost Artist ... had the use of a CBR125R for a couple of months earlier this summer ... the Bike taught me a LOT about how there are Bikes out there that handle waaaay better than the average Cruiser! ... I'm a short-arse too (5'-4") and couldn't quite flat-foot that Bike, but have test sat the 250R and it seems a bit better fit ... I'll bet it handles great too and it has about the same HP as the LS650 ... have made up my mind to eventually have a Ninjette!

I've thought pretty strongly about having the 250 Ninja as my first 2nd bike too.  Pretty cheap used, and I've heard pretty much nothing but good stuff about them.

I tell you John I have nothing but good things to say about the 250 Ninja,it's wicked fast, they will do the ton right off the showroom floor, some guys mod em but I think a 100 is fast enough for a light weight bike, and it's a nice easy ride ,I must be honest here but I cant remember having a bike that was uncomftable ,I must have a wierd shaped ass,or something.once you have the revs up 4.5 to 5 then it comes on like a genuine racer After a nice fast run ( i do live out in the sticks) well over ninety on the straightaway, then I get to my local
6 mile long twisty section , when you go through a few times ,trying to beat your last time ,it gets a little hairy but that little ninja hugs the road like sh1t to a blanket, I have not one single negative thing to say about this bike ,the gas milage is fantastic, if and that's a big IF you can keep the speed down to the legal limit, who in the heck can do that ?  might as well drive a bloody car.
If you can swing two bikes that makes the perfect 2nd bike.
the Savage for commute and shopping and a liesurly ride.
you all know what the ninja is for.

Yeah, I was thinking of yours when I made that comment. ;D  Although anyone else I've talked about them with said pretty much the same things.  I like them because I'm fairly sure if I had a CBR600RR like my friends', I'd get a little carried away with the throttle and go over backward or some stupid thing. ::)
I'm liking my C50 for now as far as a bigger bike.  Gets 48mpg commuting, the F.I. is nice, and it's reasonably comfy.  Plus has plenty of room for a passenger, although if the passenger is of the larger variety, it starts becoming noticable going up steep hills.  I just need some bigger saddlebags now, and I can even shop for groceries.  Well, I can now, if I'm only shopping for one meal.

I forgot how different and fun a bike with mid controls is to ride. I just bought my son a 83 Suzuki GS450E. "Dad" has to take it out every so often until my son gets his permit.  ;) My son is wanting to make a cafe racer out of it.

Geesh, after reading all of the postings, I have decided to give it a try.  I know that I will forget some, but then, I guess that means that they were probably forgetable bikes.  I haven't had the fun bikes that Mick has, but here is my partial list-and don't even think about having be try to remember the model year of most of them.  I bought most of them used, and didn't care much about year.

My first motorized ride was a 58 Allstate 125 scooter (You never forget your first one.)  What follows is mostly in chronological order, but I wouldn't swear by it.

Jawa 250 2 stroke
Royal Enfield 650 twin (Blew the engine in three months)
BSA Goldie (The one that got away.)
Honda 305 Super Hawk
Yamaha Rd 400
Kawasaki 3 cylinder 2 cycle-can't remember the model.  It was fast.
Triumph Bonnie 64=Amals
Honda 125 Had a two speed case- high for highway, low for offroad.
HD Sportster AMF what a piece of trash
Puch 125
Bultaco 150
Laverda 350
Montessa 150
Kawasaki 175 enduro 2 stroke
Suzuki GS 550
Suzuki GS 850
BMW R65
BMW K75
BMW 80RT
HD FXRS
HD FXRP Police bike-the one that I should have kept.
HD FLHS Frame mount fairing
Moto Guzzi Cal 1100 carb
Moto Guzzi Cal 1100 injected
Triumph 900 T-Bird Sport
Suzuki Intruder 800
HD 883 Sportster (The one that darn near killed Serowbot.)
Suzuki 03 LS 650

Around the middle of the list, there were a bunch of 4 cylinder Japanese bikes that all seemed pretty much the same.  They were all what we would call standards today.  They worked pretty well, but I never felt that they had enough soul to give any of them names.

Well, I know that senility it overtaking me, but that is the best I can remember.  Needless to say, I have been very blessed in my life.  Of them all, some were faster, some more comfortable, some handled better, but none of them have ever been more fun to ride that my Flea Flicker.
