Title: Doctor's Order.... Post by Paladin. on 11/03/10 at 14:09:55 http://andruschak.net/mike/2010-11-03-90249.gif Yahoo! Weather has a "Severe Weather Alert . . . . With these warm temperaatures... never leave, the elderly, and pets in enclosed automobiles... even for a short period ... temperatures can quickly rise to life threatening levels." Geez!! Sounds like all I can do to stop the hazards is to go for a ride. Ciao! |
Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by mick on 11/03/10 at 14:45:10 Speaking of doctors orders , every month I pick up a prescription for pain called "Fentanal" last month I asked my doctor to make the prescription for more than one month, but seems they cant do that, now I have to go to see my doctor "say AAAH" cough, and refill my prescription $180 dollar visit $80 for my meds, Total $260. what is wrong with this picture ? fortunatly I have extra insurance above and beyond medicare, that costs me $228 a month. This is what I mean when I talk about your non existant health care Do away with the doctor visit ,Wow that was easy I just saved uncle sam $180 , I also have a drug plan ,instead of $80 I pay $15 It seems any drug that can potentally become habit forming ,have the same stupid rules ,easy enough to beat, with manditory pee teast, ooops I already have them,I don't know ,it's all crazy. |
Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by Phelonius on 11/03/10 at 15:34:10 The whole point of their rules has nothing to do with the fact that the drug may be habit forming. After all does a pusher give a rip if his customer becomes addicted? No, in fact it works to his profit. The whole point is to require you to pay the 180 dollar visit fee just to get the drugs. And yes, they do hope you are addicted. The only difference between your doctor and a street pusher is that one belongs to an organization that has paid enough lobby money to politicians to keep the others' business illegal, and your prescription controlled. Better later afternoon, Gardena dropped to 88. While riding I stopped at a signal, looked down and saw that I have just turned over 31,000 miles: http://paladin.savageriders.com/images/31000.jpg |
Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by BurnPgh on 11/03/10 at 17:46:06 Careful with that crap mick. Its about 40x more potent than heroine. In Pgh for a while it was being sold AS heroine and tons of junkies were ODing and going to the ER or just dying. Its EXtremely addictive and extremely easy to OD on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentanyl |

I have been prewarned that stuff is addictive I started on 75 mgs,now I'm down to 25, I tried doing without it just to make sure I wasn't hooked, to late , I have that coming off to look forward to,without it I was climbing the walls, I was thinking of getting some pot from one of my kids and going that route. What do you think ,less dangerious ? |
Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by kimchris1 on 11/03/10 at 20:10:34 Congratulations on the 31,000 miles Paladin.. Your quite the man... It was gorgeous here today as well. Not in the 90's yet we did hit 70. That is very nice this time of year. Tomorrow supposed to be nice as well. Makes my morning walks much nicer. O and I started Genie and let her purr for awhile this afternoon. :) kim |
Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by Phelonius on 11/03/10 at 22:02:15 Yeah, it got down to 70 here last night. Hey that stuff Mick is taking is some really strong shite. The wicked pedia description is downright scary. Phelonius |

Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by mick on 11/04/10 at 00:09:24 It is very good sh1t, but strange both my doctors know I'm a ex boozer, and ex smoker, you would think Someone like me with an addictive personality would not be given habit forming sh1t. So there you go these great doctors who I cant trust any more,I'm getting so I don't know who to see anymore if I have a problem. The only American Doctor I did see is the one that did the surgery on my Aorta, saved my life but left me a cripple. |

Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by Jerry Eichenberger on 11/04/10 at 11:48:00 Mick and Arnold - Quit being so cynical, especially Arnold, who apparently doesn't think docs give a hoot. Well, I'm no doc, but in my business, I have learned enough medicine to know better. Mick - Now you know exactly how addictive the stuff is - why did you get an Rx for it - to relieve your pain, that's why. Frankly, once a patient is beyond age 70, the rules of common medical sense change a bit. Getting an OF like you or me hooked might just be the price we have to pay to get relief. |
Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by runwyrlph on 11/04/10 at 12:16:04 Also there's a huge difference between tolerance and addiction. Tolerance is natural and inevitable. If you use a narcotic for a length of time at the same dose, most of its effects will lessen. i.e. you will need a larger dose to achieve the same analgesic effect. Addiction is something different - more psychological craving. Agreed - hopefully the doc took your addiction history into account - but i don't think it's an absolute contraindication! Opiates (narcotics) have a lot going for them for treating chronic pain! As far as saying fentanyl is "more potent than other narcotics" ... so what! You're taking an itty-bitty dose! That's 75 MICROgrams per hr. if you were taking morphine (lets say 100 MILLIgrams every 12 hours) ... over 200 times the dose!... it takes 1000 micrograms to make one milligram ... one milligram is still itty bitty - it takes 1000 of those to make one gram which is still pretty small! Mick, I hope your doc and you can find a treatment that makes your pain tolerable without too much side effect. I totally get that you hate taking drugs chronically- I feel the same way! |

Title: Re: Doctor's Order.... Post by mick on 11/05/10 at 23:11:13 Good news,my niece is going to become a nurse practitioner, she will be able to write prescriptions.. I would never even try to take advantage ,just kidding. But we are all very proud of her, just got the news today, she is one semester away from her masters, the Doctor she works with has been pushing her to do this,he has also persuaded the Hospital to pay the $30,000 for her one more year of collage she also get paid but she will be doing some work, and I think she will sign an agreemwnt to work at the hospital for a ?? amount of time. It seems that poor kid all she does study and work, that no good husband of hers I could cheerfully strangle, she make 4 times what he makes ,suppoedly a building contractor, all I see him do is keep the couch warm. She should get her practitioners licence and leave the barsteward. |
