Title: Brit Brats
Post by mick on 12/09/10 at 22:45:48

Finally they have to pay there full wack for there education,It was totally free when I lived there, but this time they trippled it,boy I bet Mummy and Daddy are going to be pissed off. Did you guys see Prince Charles and Camila getting pelted with rocks and beer bottles, what really made me mad was those kids put some nasty dents and scratches in there Rolls, they could have at least waited until they got out ,that way they could actualy hit the Prince , then hit Camila in the face with a brick, anything to make her better looking. But no,they had to hit the car.. Some poor chauffeur puts half his life into that car, just to keep it beautiful.

Mick I did see that story on the news the other night. The report was that the Brits pay higher taxes, and that was the reason behind the low or no cost of education.
Now their going to be paying higher education cost as well as the high taxes.
Do you have any other information on this subject? :) kim

Kim I have now lived longer here than in England,I was 30 when I left ,I am now 73. I have two cousins who live in London and one who lives in Paris,we communicate often.
Taxes are only high if your income is high, I was a chauffeur I paid next to nothing in taxes ,as I recall health insurance was about $1.50 a week,at the time I made 15 pounds a week, A pound in those days was worth $5 .
As for collage kids they were a snotty bunch, most had rich parents.
School was free in those days ,but most kids ,me included had to start work at 15 years old,now if you passed all your exams ,you could move onto Grammer school, After 2 years in grammer school ,if you passed all your exams ,that included one other language besides English, you could then go on to collage, after that do what ever you want university or ....     that has all changed now,it has gone Americanized, you  pay the money and in you go. Personally I liked the old system better .

Mick, thank you for giving us some insight on this matter.
Seems no matter where you live their are changes.
The older system did sound better than the new one.
It would appear no matter where one lives, changes
occur that are not always met with open arms
and happy faces. kim

When I was a young lad, this is what a Brit Brat looked like.
I admired my friends way more than any collage guy,I always figured we were smarter anyway,we sure had more fun.
