Sleek, fast, low and overpriced.

Just a very big scooter if you ask me,
still I think it will out-maneuver most
anything on the track or street, this adds
some serious competition to the suzuki
burgman/silverwing market.

Wouldn't buy one but I like it a lot.
(I'm currently saving up for a Kawasaki Estrella or another
ls650, OR a used bonneville, IF the price is right ) ;)

I've seen this bike, it is the ultimate "see-me" poser "cafe` sitter" bike. (as opposed to cafe` racer)

Buy one, park it in front of your favorite cafe` and see anybody who doesn't understand a thing about bikes ogle it.

The publicity campaign here in Italy (Europe?) was aggressive last spring, I think that - overall - they sold... two ? ::)

It's too big and heavy to be a scooter, too slow to be a bike (other than a promenade cruiser) and handles like a wheelchair with wobbly wheels.

AND horribly overpriced... :P

Overall, at least here in Italy, it was a huge flop.

Mind you, the world has seen automatic bikes, one of the best possibly the Moto Guzzi Idroconvert

BUT the "autoGuzzi" was a 1000cc V-twin with exactly the same engine, frame, suspension and brakes etc. as the V-1000 with the typical 5-speed box.

The only real difference was a very compact (and long-legged) 2-speed autobox with a torque converter.

Most were eventually converted into "California" models... ... ... ... ... ... or sometimes as "SP" long range Gran Turismos

Saw the DN-01 up close and personal at last years local Honda Demo Daze ... interesting machine, but I didn't like it ...

A Canadian online motorcycle e-zine, CMG Online, had one of their moto-journalists ride the "Thing" from Toronto around up-state New York and back ... he seemed to like Riding it OK on a long-ish jaunt ...

Actually the fellow riding it seemed to like it.
We will be seeing more "auto shift" bikes. Yamaha FJ and Aprilla Mana come to mind. I still like the Converts.
One of my riding buds runs a 450 Hondamatic at the drag races. Pretty good times and he has won a little money over the years....calls it "The Liquid Worm".
If you have ridden a Burgman650 or T-Max that are totally "twist and go" you would be very surprised. The Boomer generation is fueling this in my opinion.

There... I have probably killed another thread.

I looked at the DN-01 and didn't care for it much. I am very happy with my Burgman 650, rides like a Goldwing yet handles curves like a sport bike. To me, the idea of a bike with an automatic transmission is for someone with disabilities (like myself), that is also easy to get on/off

Look at the front light unit and small aerodynamic fairing.

Then look at the mirrors.

Then look closely, and realize the handlebars are a foot to high compared to the rest, and a foot too wide :P

And, given the engine's performance, the footpegs are quite possibly two feet too far forwards... :-/

The DN-01 is what it is ... as I've said, I wasn't struck on it ... but for others it might be just the ticket ... personally, I think Honda may need to tweak the concept a little more in order to find the niche it may be after with this Bike.
