Title: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/09/11 at 19:31:40 Well today I cured my P.M.S. ( Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.) It has been almost a month since Genie and I were last on the road. Out temps have been on the cool side, with some cold winds. Finally today no wind, and the sun shinning brightly. House work along with some yard work completed, left me wondering what to do with the rest of my day? I geared up, warmed Genie up, and after a safety check, we were off. For the first 1/2 hr the air was a lil cool. I had no certain destination in mind. I rode by and showed Genie to my hand therapist and the gals their drooled.. haha.. Genie and I had a great ride and were out for almost 2 hrs. I am hoping to get to ride tomorrow as well. I will try and get some pics if I do. Today was again a ride and no pic taking, even though I had the camera with me. Hugs everyone and for those that aren't able to ride right now, don't fret, your weather will improve soon.. :) kim |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Starlifter on 02/09/11 at 20:06:33 Heh, PMS here means "permenant massive snow piles". It is dead center mid-winter here now. As I write this the outdoor temperture is 4 above zero. It's a good thing that Ms. Starlifter and I LOVE winter...and the long dark winter makes the short riding season all the more sweeter. :) |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by prechermike on 02/10/11 at 06:11:13 Kim, i am glad you got a ride in. It has been fair for riding here, I rode a couple of days last week. Today it is snowing for all eastern NC can muster. Monday it is supposed to be in the 60's. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by bill67 on 02/10/11 at 06:27:37 As of now -16 degrees. :-[ |

Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by babyhog on 02/10/11 at 07:24:27 Wow Kimmy, I'm so jealous. We got more snow last night, 19° right now at 10:30 in the morning. Its sunny but cold. Monday is supposed to be warm. And then get really warm later next week, pushing 60. So I will put the rubber on the road very soon... |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Tanker2Biker on 02/10/11 at 07:38:53 I got a ride in last Sunday afternoon. then temp in the 20's kept the bike covered and me inside. Temp 28 right now, but suppose to top out 65-70 this week-end, so I'll be back out. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by FlybysBlvd on 02/10/11 at 07:41:55 I am so jealous too! .... 5 degrees here right now! it's gonna be a while.... >:( |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Serowbot on 02/10/11 at 09:13:14 As a man,... I don't have those 3 or 4 days a month where I'm insanely grumpy... I stay that way all month, every month... :-?... |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by drharveys on 02/10/11 at 09:27:10 We're supposed to have our February thaw and warm-up this weekend. Of course, it's on an Air Force Reserve weekend... |

Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Trippah on 02/10/11 at 16:38:40 DRH..can't you get a flight to a warm (but safe) place like CENTCOM and rent a bike for the overnight? Seems like good training to me. I almost miss my USAR training weekends. ;) ;) ;) Be safe and thanks for your service. |

Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Arnold on 02/11/11 at 05:00:47 Looks like a Windows wallpaper. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/11/11 at 08:38:52 Arnold, these mts are soo beautiful. I really wished, I could have done a better job of capturing the beauty yesterday. Hopefully hubby and I, can get some video of these soon. I am blessed to have such beauty surrounding me, when out on my rides. Their are other places near by which have differnt views, of the same mtns. I will try and capture some of them as well. Today it is overcast with rain due back in later today. I may get a ride in, yet for pic taking, they won't have the pretty skies like yesterday.. :( kim |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Arnold on 02/11/11 at 10:04:15 It does like beautiful, west coast is definitely something I have to see. Looks so... peaceful. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by weracerc on 02/11/11 at 12:44:48 looks like multiple days in a row fo riding in north central NC - yesterday snow early - dentist appt and rode the cycle in the afternoon roads were dry by then - riding today - and most of next week so it appears if the weather man is right....so far i have ridden less than i had hoped i could from Nov thru Jan. Feb is shaping up ok....we are known for bad weather in March so it aint over til the April fools decide whether the weather will cooperate. ::) |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/12/11 at 16:50:20 PMS cured? YOu just thought there were riches to be made by curing the common cold. You solve this problem & about 1/2 the world will beat a path to your door. Carrying all the $$$ they can spare. |

We did -- we had our warm-up, and I was stuck at the airbase. On the plus side, it's supposed to hold for a few days so I WILL get some riding in! |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by mornhm - FSO on 02/14/11 at 15:26:12 Today is my first ride to work since the snowstorm a couple of weeks ago (when they didn't plow all of the roads). This has been a bad winter, but things are looking up. I figure to be riding to work from now till next year. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/14/11 at 20:01:39 Great to hear a few of you are able to ride. I know what a difference it makes in my attitude when I can. :) kim |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Boofer on 02/14/11 at 20:40:55 Had a lot of trouble with my back. Now my right foot only pushes down, but not up. Lower spine all blowed up. Been getting by on old Yuasa battery that I drained completely TWICE and recharged. Rode 8 miles 3 weeks ago. Tried again today and no crank. Been on trickler, but barley turned. Got a new Yuasa YB14L-A2 for $63.08 today. After four snows here in N Ms this year, the forecast is 65-70 through Friday. If it don't hurt too bad, I'm gonna' get my share of riding back. BTW, how are the Big Cranks some of you guys bought holding up? :) |

Been in there ever since, gave it 6 months off when I got the new bike. Then that battery gave up the ghost, so it's big crank to the rescue. Well I did trickle charge it over nite. So four years, never a problem. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Boofer on 02/15/11 at 16:53:55 Put my new battery in today and rode about 30 miles in beautiful sunshine, about 65 degrees. Since it will be two years in March since I got Suzi, I never realized how slow the old battery was turning until I got this one. It's supposed to get warmer all week till about 70 Friday. That should go a long way toward warding off PMS. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by tcreeley on 02/15/11 at 17:05:00 Around 15 during the days - but last week it reached 33 and it was sunny here in Maine. The road is covered in salt and sand but this guy was out on a dirt bike! Snowsleds are everywhere. I couldn't get my bike out if I wanted to- too much snow to dig out! TC ;) |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/16/11 at 10:59:22 Well it's back... Shucks. As some of the rest of you are now starting to warm up, here were having snow showers, rain, wind, some sun even. Temps are cool and just too darn cool and icky for Genie and I to go out. :'( Right now is cool as only 41 and again snow showers expected. All of you that are able to get out and about, hugs and let's see some pics and hear of your riding experiences.. Hugs.. :) kim :'( |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by verslagen1 on 02/16/11 at 11:21:34 Your P.M.S. has drifted south. Even the 4 wheeled helmet was saying lets stay home today. Traction control was active. 8-) |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Southpaw on 02/16/11 at 12:17:18 I've been away from the bike and off the site pretty much since November. Last week the home life finally settled down and things started coming together. I got my new clutch cable on, replaced the battery and got the Great White out from under the cover. Just got back from my shakedown cruise. It's gonna be a week getting the smile off my face! only 30 miles today, but tomorow I hope to put several hundred on her. Sure feels great to be back in the saddle. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by babyhog on 02/16/11 at 16:01:54 Woohooo!!!! My PMS is not totally cured, but got helped along today. 60 degrees and sunny when I got home for work, so I took a little ride. Only about 20 miles, but it sure felt great! First ride for quite some time. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too, so my boy and I are planning a ride after work tomorrow too. Will be maybe 30 in the morning, and we still have quite a bit of nasty on the road, so I probably won't ride to work, but hey, its a start! Welcome back Southpaw. Feels good, don't it! Kimmy, one of these days we will ride on the same day! ;) Guess that's what we get for being on opposite sides of the country! |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Demin on 02/16/11 at 17:13:28 Rode today.About 50 out.Tomorrow close to 60,woohoo. 8-) |

Bake a pie ? make cookies ? polish the bike ? prepare a wonderfull dinner for your true love ? (husband) Or become a couch potatoe and do nothing ? just curious. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/17/11 at 09:28:13 Mick, to answer your questions, here goes. I keep busy cleaning house, taking care of my dogs and cats, yard work, reading, taking a nap now and then, and yes I cook. I don't bake much anymore as if it is not here, I don't have the temptation to eat it. :) I like to cook from scratch so that takes more prep time and putting more thought into a meal. Even though the weather is cool, I was able to yesterday go out and do some raking. The wind had brought down some twigs and branches. I try and keep them picked up as they fall so it is does not become an all day job. Then I came in and re organized the 2 spare bedrooms. That took me 3 hrs non stop. I like being busy and I try and have projects to complete each day. Oh and I sew now and then as well. Also I clean my suv and detail it as needed. Well gotta go,, Daugher and Grand Daughter on the way, will be here in an hr. Good thing I got up early and got house cleaned. Thanks for asking.. Hugs.. kim :) |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/20/11 at 06:14:46 Hey Boofer, by now you should have reloaded the camera for some pics. Better yet, why not get yourself a lil digital one? I am hoping hubby and I can go out on the bikes today. It was sunny yet the wind was like ice. Today their is supposed to be no wind and temps a lil warmer. Hopefully we can capture some video of the area as well. Piglet, let's do try and plan a ride soon. We can set it up with the time difference even. Your 3 hrs ahead right? Well here's hoping more of you get your p.m.s. cured.. : :) :) :) kim |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by verslagen1 on 02/24/11 at 22:32:53 http://smileyicons.net/s/328.gif It's going to be freakin' cold tomorrow. The high will be 45 °F snow to 500 feet and dropping with every newscast. |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Boofer on 02/25/11 at 05:04:09 Kim, That was a little digital point and shoot that I used. I went on up to 80, but the lens shut down. You know how they do when the batteries get low. Fun day anyway. Boofer |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by babyhog on 02/25/11 at 05:42:30 Awww man, Boofer, I am usually good with details, but I totally missed the your speed in that pic!! You go baby! (I'd be afraid of the camera getting ripped outta my hand!) |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by Southpaw on 02/25/11 at 08:56:18 Well, here we go again, unexpected frosting of snow this morning. I had riding plans for tomorrow, but I guess it'll keep for a couple days! :P |
Title: Re: P.M.S. cured... Post by kimchris1 on 02/25/11 at 10:14:03 WE have had some ice cold days and nights here as well. Snow all around us. Some places farther North got over 2 feet.. Places South of us several inches. We got a good dusting. Temps barely above freezing. Wind feels like ice. Last night got into the 20's.. Sunny yet cold. No way am I taking Genie out from the shelter she is in. Boofer your more brave than I am. I would be scared to death to try and get a pic while going that fast. Am waiting patiently like the rest of us for some decent riding weather. Good thing I have some sewing to do. Stay warm everybody..Hugs.. Kim :) |
