Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/20/11 at 08:00:02 Skinny bike, simple look, I like it. Where did you get the little bullet headlight? Did you powder coat yourself? I gotta have my wheels down next winter. |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by Scott_H on 04/20/11 at 08:02:13 Thanks. I got the headlight from a friend. No, I didn't do the powder-coating. I had it done here locally. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/20/11 at 08:13:54 The drum and the forks, how pricey was it? Did you do the other work yourself? Looks very clean. Wonder if no turn signals in front is legal in NY, I want to take mine off too. |

Actually, drum and forks are rattle can. The bars and sissy bar are newly coated. $50 for both pieces. I did some of the work but Eli at Cheapskate Cycles did most of it for me. I'm not sure about legality of the signals. I took all of mine off though. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/20/11 at 08:33:33 So I'm probably looking at a couple of hundreds max for both wheels. I want to mount white walls also. Inspection is a joke in NY too though, took 30 secs at the shop, guy just walked around the bike, didnt try anything. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by buttgoat1 on 04/20/11 at 09:08:55 Nice! I like it too |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by jrm8486 on 04/20/11 at 19:11:11 What kind of fender is that, love it all! |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by Silly Ogre on 04/20/11 at 19:45:19 I love the overall look...How does it handle with those Narrow bars? |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by verslagen1 on 04/20/11 at 20:23:48 Mean looking 8-) For sh!ts and giggles, see what it looks like with the forks lowered... drop out the spacers in the forks and let it settle down. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by MotoBuddha on 04/21/11 at 06:00:30 Aw man, I liked the rattier, mismatched look from before. But it's not my bike. And did you get rid of the rectangular light? |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/21/11 at 06:03:47 Does anyone know how big a front tire you can put on without the fender? |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by Savage_Amusement on 04/21/11 at 06:41:25 If you are talking about how much to have the rims powder coated, the place local to me charges 50$ a rim, motorcycle or car. I have mine done solid flat red and they look great! Awesome job on the bike by the way!!! :) |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/21/11 at 06:51:13 $50 is good, I was debating between flat red or black. I'm leaning toward red. I was talking about tire size also, I want to change my front to a bigger size white wall. |

Sorry man. The rectangle headlight was giving me trouble so we replaced it. It was a used, car fog light. I think it got bounced around too much. |

Had a guy here local do that. We just cut off the old pipe up close to the head and started from there with some fresh bends. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by metalguitarist37 on 04/26/11 at 11:27:31 Man that's clean! Where did you find that tank and how did you go about mounting it? |
|
Title: Re: New paint! Post by Scott_H on 04/26/11 at 21:42:46 The tank is by Slim. It's mounted with a tab in the front and a tab in the back that also mounts the front of the seat. I can get pics if interested. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Wake51 on 04/26/11 at 22:36:31 At first when I saw this bike I said I to myself "mmm not a fan". (Bear in mind I think any bike that makes the creator happy is awesome, just perhaps not the direction I would go with mine.) Well then I realized... -Never seen that color before. -Never quite seen an exhaust at that angle before on a Savage. -Doesn't look like there are quite enough parts there to make an operational, street legal bike. Then I realized... PRETTY cool. 8-) That paint stands out as an ugly mustard the first time you see it to me, but every time I come back to check out the pic it turns more into a grand gold I've never seen before. Congrats on your creation! |

That would be awesome! I've been itching to get a different tank on mine since I got it. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Scott_H on 04/29/11 at 12:12:27 http://j8ksdad.com/images/Back.jpg Front mount is for the tab at the front of the tank. Back mount is for back of tank and front of seat. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/29/11 at 12:21:49 Hey, shifter is bent :) |

Actually, the shifter is 'straight'. I didn't like how it tucked in with the factory bend so I took it off and hammered the bend out straight. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Arnold on 04/29/11 at 12:40:54 Oh ok, I used to kick mine too hard, habit from motocross. |

Title: Re: New paint! Post by Edgar on 05/18/11 at 14:07:10 Hey Scott did you get the fender made by Cheapskate cycles as well? |

Got some new foot pegs. That's about it. Since I got the new paint I found a pin-hole in the top as the paint is bubbling. I'll have to get that fixed and the tank repainted soon. |
