Title: Changing brake pads
Post by Djvelasquez90 on 04/20/11 at 17:03:53

Hi, im new to the forum and new to motorcycles, i bough last week a 2002 savage with 7,500 miles(by the way i love it ). i changed my brake pads because the old ones were already touching metal to metal. so i ordered some brake pads followed the instructions i found here on the forum. did everything and now i pump the brakes and it doesnt do anything. the piston on the caliper is not moving at all so i pretty much have no idea whats going on. im in need of help! thanks anyone that can help me

Did you loosen any brake lines?

i did after when it wasnt doing anything. it was like the piston was stuck or something, i disconected the brake line from the caliper and from the other end too and blew and fluid was coming out, pulled on the brake and the fluid came out from the top.... when i connect everything as how it was nothing happens

How many times did ya squeeze the brake lever before you decided it wasnt gonna work?

Pushing the Puck all the way in, then slipping the pads in the caliper, then caliper onto the disk,, hey, guess what? Now theres room between the pads & disk, & the Puck doesnt move far with each stroke, so its possible o Squeeze a few times before they start to engage. On disk brakes, otta never have to open a brake line to get pads in.
