Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by arteacher on 05/13/11 at 05:53:45 It's the Port Dover run today. It happens every Friday 13th. Thousands of bikes converge on a small town on the north Shore of Lake Erie from all over southern Ont and Ohio. I was planning to go with three buddies but that fell through, and the weather is going to deteriorate this afternoon anyway. It's 2 hours each way from London. Oh well, there's always next year. :'( |

Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by HalfPint on 05/13/11 at 09:00:19 I'm not worried about the 13th, but I am worried about all the crazies thinking the world's going to end on the 21st (http://abcnews.go.com/US/may-21-2011-end-world-judgment-day/story?id=13570426). |
Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by Yonuh Adisi FSO on 05/13/11 at 10:33:01 21st (http://abcnews.go.com/US/may-21-2011-end-world-judgment-day/story?id=13570426). So they are trying to say that I shouldn't worry about attending my younger daughter's graduation on the 21st because we won't be here to see it anyway? I don't think so. Maybe I can claim I personally held back the destruction of the world because I was bound and determined to see my daughter graduate? You think they would believe that? Then the entire world would bow down a worship me http://annemccaffreyfans.org/forum/images/smilies/tony.gif MMMMWWWWWWAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAHHHHAAAAA Keep dreaming, though it was worth a try wasn't it? |
Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by Ed L. on 05/13/11 at 13:41:16 I bumped into that May 21st end of the world bozo about six weeks ago. Had a great time telling him that he was crazy after letting him run on for about 1/2 a minute, he sounded liked a total moron. Friday the 13th is bad luck only if you are a Knights Templar. I don't think there are any left, thier order was purged sometime back around the 15th century on can you guess it? Friday the 13th. :o |
Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by weracerc on 05/13/11 at 13:45:46 I used to beleive F-13 was my curse - on every F-13 everything i touched turned to poo - i started taking all F-13 off work so i could not make big piles of poo just to come back on the following Monday to clean up - that all lasted from age 18 thru age 45 - last 3-4 years the F-13 poo factor has been a non issue - I have worked right thru them and not really given it that much of a thought.....mind over matter - if you dont mind - it dont matter! |

Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by Starlifter on 05/13/11 at 17:29:00 "It's the Port Dover run today." Arteacher, I missed this year's run also. I've been there a couple of times, the last one was (I think) three years ago. The topless ladies...er I mean the bikes looked great. Love those liberal Ontario laws. ;) |

I met up with the three guys who were supposed to go with me. We decided not to got to Dover because of the predicted rain and ran up to Bayfield instead. No rain. No rain at Dover either. Five hours in the saddle, the best Reuben and Belgian beer I ever had at a pub in Bayfield, windscreen almost opaque with bugs, one of which got up my sleeve and stung me, ran out of gas, and I feel much better today than I thought I would (no aches or pains, thank you Corbin). Probably a better day than Dover would have been. There are three Dover runs next year- January (not going) April, and July. |
Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by kimchris1 on 05/14/11 at 07:11:33 Halfpint, I don't know when the world is going to end. Nor do I believe anyone else does.. Oh btw if it does end on the 21st. Then those that said it would, will be right. Yet who will be here to tell them they were? What would it matter then? Years ago,, in a land far, far away.. My 1st hubby used to sit and talk gloom and doom with his pals. I got sick of hearing it. It really got annoying. So one evening as I was passing thru the room, I up and say, I will be glad when it does happen. They looked at me in a strange way and asked why? My reply was, then it will be over and, I won't have to hear about it all the time.. I am going to live my life to the fullest each day.. Ride as often as I can, work in my yard and just enjoy the hell out of life, be grateful I can do as much and as often as I can.. That is why I don't get nervous on Friday the 13th.. Or any other day for that matter..:) kim |

Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by stinger on 05/15/11 at 00:59:34 I was born on friday the 13th! Within the first year of my life my family lost everything in a flood in Vanport Or. then before I even finished out the year, the place we were staying was hit by lightning while I was being given a bath. My heart stopped. Obviously they got it going again! I got my first traffic ticket on Friday 13th. On a thursday the 12th back in the 80's I was with my brother when some creep stabbed him 6 times with a 9 inch butcher knife. His surgery was on the morning of the 13th. It was a lucky day for him because he survived the surgery. Ever notice there are no 13th floors in buildings or 13th ave streets? My mom died last year on Sept 13th. Who knows? |
Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by kimchris1 on 05/15/11 at 06:03:54 Stinger, all those things would have happened no matter the date. Coinsidences that they happened on or near the 13th. Did you go out and about, or stay snuggled in your bed, waiting for the 14th to get here? Sorry for the loss of your Mother. That imo is bad luck no matter the date..Big hugs, :-* kim |

Title: Re: Friday the 13th Post by joscswny on 05/18/11 at 05:27:39 World ending on the 21st? Never happen! My baby girl graduates law school on the 28th and if she misses that for something as silly as the end of the world there will be some serious hell to pay for someone. |
