Title: Brands of seats, opinions please
Post by kimchris1 on 06/13/11 at 11:18:44

For some time now, I have been
comtemplating changing the stock
seat on Genie. I have looked at different
brands, styles etc, ect.. Prices vary and
again just not sure which one would be
best.
So I am asking those of who that have
swapped out the stock seat, which one
you feel is best?
I have even contemplated using just a gel
pad. So come on give me your opinions
please.. Thanks, :) kim

Kinda in the same position myself... may just modify the padding in the existing stock seat for now.   :)

Corbin seats dont' have much padding but are very supportive, I like padding though. . . .

+1 on the Corbin. Before I couldn't ride for an hour without major back and tailbone pain. Now I can ride through a whole tank of gas, fill it up, and get right back on and ride through another.
Worth every penny!

I've been wondering about seat also. I like the look of my seat on my 87 LS650, but I hate sitting in it - even for a minute. I have arthritis in my hip and when I sink into the seat, it is all about being stiff and in pain. 2x now I've cut padding out, added padding, narrowed the seat profile, extended the pegs, etc. I need to sit back further from the tank. I've even though of ditching the seat I have and mounting another rear seat up against the rear seat that's on it now, and using that. I keep thinking I have to sell the bike - but I like it.

I have arthritis in my hips as well. Forward controls helped a tremendous amount. That and the corbin seat.

Kim, do you know of a Mustang seat that will fit?  I'd be interested in one, because I've never seen one that I didn't like and always heard good things about them.

And have you looked at this one?  http://www.oneidasuzuki.com/store/parts-accessories/custom-gel-leather-seat-s40-2005-06-boulevard.html

I just checked out the corbin seat. They allow you to customize the color of it. Trying to figure out maybe the pigeon gray with white panels maybe to match my tank. They say the color of my bike is silver but it's more of a bluish grey. The pigeon gray looks close to it.

Webhead, when I purchased Genie back in 09,
the other color choice was the one you have.
I agree with your decision on the color and
my opinion for what it is worth, would be to
go for the pigeon gray. I think that would look
very nice. Let  us know what you decide. :) kim

I just went to the Suzuki site and looked at the '09's Kim. The fenders are white and the silver looks like silver. Mine looks bluish and the fenders aren't white.  Anyone can verify, please let us know.

TCGreely, try to find a picture of Phelonius's old Savage/sidecar rig, He had a mid 50's, I think, HD sportster 2 up seat on his. Raised up the seating and gave lots of room to move back and forth. He is in Hawaii now and doesn't use this forum. I think he took the seat off the bike/sidecar rig when he sold it over near here he lived in western WA, Port Angeles?  If you can't find one leave me a PM and I can e-mail you one. I still don't know how to post pictures here. Max

Well due to the economy, you have to post pics of yourself on twitter if you want benefits. We call that the "wiener effect".
