Title: Demo ride Post by jef.savage on 06/17/11 at 19:53:55 Rode one of these today. Almost 700 pounds, over 170 rear wheel horsepower, 0-60 in THREE seconds flat. 1/4 mile in 10.30 at 136.44. Felt like I might suck the bike in front of me right into one of those huge air intakes. WOW!!! http://imageshand.yamahamotors.com/img.jpg?id=12756&class=med640 |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by KristenAnn on 06/17/11 at 19:55:25 What kind of bike is that? |

Title: Re: Demo ride Post by kimchris1 on 06/17/11 at 20:47:48 Wow super hot... Are you going to buy it Jef? |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by jef.savage on 06/18/11 at 06:40:51 I have read that it's capable of smoking the rear tire through the first four gears. I didn't feel the front wheel try to come up although it can't be too tough if you're trying. At just under $20k I won't be buying one soon. Just wanted to try one. |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by Serowbot on 06/18/11 at 10:16:55 I could seriously crash one of those... :-?... The problem with bikes like that, is... they are useless at any legal speed... Kinda' like owning your own personal bazooka... :-?... |

If I had as much fun driving as I do riding Id be in jail, but I dont have to be illegal on the bike to have fun, Its sad that my new driving "fun" is seeing how many MPG I can wring out of it. |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by LostArtist on 06/19/11 at 16:34:33 I can't get my leg over them V-Maxes would love to try one someday but not safe for shorty me. do the scoops on the new model actually do something? the FZ8 was cool but a bit disappointing after my buell, the fz8 has no balls, but I'm not used to riding inline 4s so maybe it's just me |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by jef.savage on 06/26/11 at 20:28:40 Here's the VMax http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y343/jefscoville/vmax.jpg http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y343/jefscoville/vmax1.jpg I also rode an FZ8, the newest Yamaha, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very versatile all around motorcycle. Lost, MCNews shows the FZ8 slightly quicker to 60mph (3.51 vs 3.63) and about the same through the quarter mile (11.55 @ 115.71 vs 11.54 @ 118) as a Buell XB12s. Remember these things rev almost twice as high as the bikes you're used to and that's where they make their power. http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y343/jefscoville/fz8.jpg |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by thumperclone on 06/26/11 at 21:45:28 some of my best fun is thumppin up the colorado national mounument at the posted 25mph...the old road john otto put in is called the tail of the serpent..this ones not quite as steep.. they had to back up some of the switch backs back then cause the fuel was gravity fed.. |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/27/11 at 04:20:12 Id ride one O them bad boys, but Im afraid the DEMOnstration ride would turn into a DEMOlition event. |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by LostArtist on 06/27/11 at 08:53:49 I have no doubt that the FZ8 is a better bike than I give it credit for, that was my first time ever on an inline 4 so I have no idea how to really wind them up to experience that power. idk, like I said, it's just me, I was probably abusing the engine by shifting too soon or something. just felt too smooth like there wasn't an engine there . . . but that's what demo rides are for, to try out things and see how they feel. so far my favorite has been a Victory Vegas but the Triumph Bonneville is a close second and half the price :) I'm tempted to get an older vMax with the lower seat height (about 2 inches lower too), you can find some really good deals on those |

Did you happen to ride a speedmaster when you ride the bonneville? How did the two compare? If you didn't ride the speedmaster, what did you like best about the bonneville? |

If you didn't ride the speedmaster, what did you like best about the bonneville?[/quote] this was in 2009 so the speedmaster was the same as the america now the 2011's the speedmaster is just a bit shorter and I don't know if the reach to the pegs is any shorter on it or not. but I can't reach the controls all that well on triumph cruisers, (now I would totally try them out but I had only like 8 months of riding experience then, the vegas was just too good to pass up) :-/ so I can't comment on them. the bonneville's looks is still what I like best about it, and that it's coupled with a very very capable machine with all the power you need on it and it's just a well finished, well riding machine. it was my first ride on top machine too so that kinda made me feel a bit odd at first, but now I'm used to that. |
Title: Re: Demo ride Post by bill67 on 06/27/11 at 13:44:14 My boy had a victory 8 ball great bike lots of power,The pegs were to far out for what I liked ,But since then they have moved them back 1 1/2 inches so should be good. |
