Title: It's HOT!... Bot's annual weather rant... Post by Serowbot on 06/21/11 at 10:32:23 Arizona is on fire... both figuratively and literally.... It's gonna' be 105' today... 110' tomorrow... but, don't worry,... it's a dry heat... I know that, because the second I go outside, there's a great sucking sound as the sun pulls every drop of liquid from my body... The good news?... with 70% of my body gone (the liquid part),.. the diet is going great... I now weigh 42 lbs... Did you know,... that the official temperature here is taken from 14ft above ground in the shade?.... It's true!... I don't know about other places, but that's how they do it here... Ironically,... I spend very little of my day, 14ft above the ground in the shade... The other day, when the official temp was 105',... I pulled my patio thermometer into the sun, and within a minute or two it read 126'... ... and our one and only solace, here in Tucson,.. is... at least we're not in Phoenix... 105' today,.. 110' tomorrow,... ...time to stick another Popsicle down my pants.... :-?... |

I took a 400 mile trip last weekend and was totally fine until getting back into Austin, which seemed to drive the temp up 10 degrees or so.. that plus sitting at a light in riding gear + FF helmet = DYING OF HEAT :o |

I say its HOT, but I ain't complaining. I prefer HOT. Guess I should move to Tucson or Austin ;) |

Don't know if that helps or consoles anyone but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Been triple digits a lot here in New Mexico lately as well so I feel your pain. |

The next 10 days are supposed to be cool and damp (okay, 90-94 and 60% or better chance of severe thunderstorms). Positive spin THIS NOAA... ;D Too hot to paint the bike, the Bug, the 49 Dodge, either house (inside or out)... Ah well, we're picking and processing the larger sweet corn patch this weekend. 2 or 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Radio said Colorado was under severe winter storm warning for 10K feet and higher today. Global warming my a$$. |

Also Mom and Sis live in Ca and been there in the triple digits as well. Rode the bikes in triple digits and it was ok as long as we were moving. Sweat (and there is a lot of it) just soaks into everything and stays there. Last year this time i was in Vegas for my honeymoon, it is amazing how much better it feels when moisture actually evaporates and cools you off. |

The big difference is that I get up early and ride, and Serowbot doesn't even get up until it is getting hot. I rode up Mt Lemon last week, and I was chilly by the time I got to the top and regretted not putting a light jacket into my side bag. There is also this, we do have to adjust our riding schedule during the Summer here in Tucson, but we ride 12 months of the year. When a lot of other folk are packing their machines away for the Winter, we are finally riding with jackets. So, unlike W. C. Fields, "All things considered, I would rather be in Tucson." |

It's been awful to even go ouside for short periods due to the smoke in the air. Sunsets have been hidden by the thick smoke, and its always darker in the morning for the same reason. I guess its better than being Serobot temps but still...I miss autumn!! |

Im wanting to get some hose & spraymist nozzles to string along the roof. Since we cut the trees down, this place gets HOT.. |

I can swivel it 90' from the wall and the temp stays the same... That part of the wall is shaded all day 'cept for a half hour or so in the evening... Busy intersections here,.. full sun, black asphalt, engines idling,... can pass 140' degrees... |
