Title: Joplin
Post by Wolfman on 06/21/11 at 15:34:48

Just thought id toss out a lil update as its been like a month and a day since the EF5 went through joplin mo.

Last count death toll was 153 i believe it was.
There was another deadly problem came out of joplin besides the twister.
A Fungal infection. Anybody that worked/lived there after the twisters needs to keep an eye on any wounds they received.
A Fungus that normaly live in the ground got all stirred up and blown into wounds ect. Its deadly and extremely hard to treat.
7 or 8 of the dead according to the news were due to the fungal infection, not wounds received.
It aint over till its over

Thanks for the update. It will certainly take a long time to
bounce back.
I hope they have a vaccine soon if not already for that fungus.
Or some type of medicine to treat it.. Hugs and take care ,kim

The fungal infection could turn into a real bad deal.
They were warning the thousands of volunteers and residents down there about it.
Any kind of open wound is susceptable to the fungal infection. You actualy get a fungus growing in your wound. It gets to your blood your in pretty bad trouble.
No cure but if they catch it, up to a point, they can fix it....usualy
Past that point your pretty well S.O.L.

Like i said earlier they have had like 9 or 10 that have died due to the fungal infection. These were'nt folks on life support for other injuries either.
Id never heard of a twister stirring up something like this before.

"Previously unheard of" events & medical issues are more commonplace these days..
