Title: Early Spring in the South Post by Oldfeller on 02/24/12 at 13:37:42 Today it was 82 degrees and raining pretty hard. When I went to work at 4:30 it was still raining pretty hard. At 4:45 the sun came out and the rain stopped -- and the mock cherries immediately blossomed. The daffodils opened up. The red bud trees opened up. Spring has sprung !! All this took place in one afternoon, Feb 24th 2012 .... It was amazing, you could actually see the too early false spring fooling mother nature into a fatal mistake. |

Title: Re: Early Spring in the South Post by Wake51 on 02/25/12 at 00:52:42 WAY TO RUB IT IN... I still have to... -Pull the valve cover and re-seal it after an unseccesful oil plug fix. -Replace a sparkplug I failed to check for a failed spark. -Re-jet a carb I re-truned in checking for that failed spark. -Re-install that re-tuned carb. -Tighten the belt. -Tighter a loose belt. -Change the oil with GOD know's what oil. Congrats on the warm riding weather... I can picture her now... 8-) You give hope of spring to us all. I'll be in the garage tomorrow weather permitting and mid-terms be darned!! |

Title: Re: Early Spring in the South Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/26/12 at 05:00:51 Ive worn thermal underwear once so far. Havent needed a heater in the shop, nothing so pressing that I have to stay out there when its that cold, & its wont be that cold for long,,havent even put on coveralls, We are still short on rainfall, been getting rain, several 2 inch in 24 hour events, But, Whats got me concerned is, Bugs,, havent had enough hard freeze to kill stuff off, & Im really concerned that we will go right into summer heats again, last year was rough. Some garden plants didnt do well at all, even tho we watered, they just couldnt take the heat, I guess..heck, I dunno,, Im learning,, |

Aye, 24.8 F. Still not good when moving at any speed. At least not to me. I knew there had to be something bad about the Vancouver area. I loved that area whenever I visited it (back in the 80s). |

That really is a cool job. I mean, think about it. You get a cool title; "Meteorologist"... as if you studied meteors or something. Here's the really great part: you get paid to guess and nobody ever expects you to get it right! |
Title: Re: Early Spring in the South Post by WD on 03/04/12 at 15:01:35 I'm wearing a thermal shirt today, it's cold out. About 64F and windy. Two days ago it was in the low 80F range. Lots of severe weather to the east of us, tornados and such. Was in Claytor Lake VA last Tuesday, froze my butt off, that morning in Memphis it was near 80F at 10am. Driving home Wednesday was pounding rain, hail and strong surface level winds, strong enough that at least one semi flipped and blew up. Yep, spring has definitely come to west TN... |
Title: Re: Early Spring in the South Post by justin_o_guy2 on 03/04/12 at 16:28:35 Trees are budding, nose is exploding.. nifty trick I got from a lady around here,, I carry a tiny bottle of peppermint oil, when I start sneezing & my sinus passages swell & I cant bbreathe thru my nose, I put a coupla drops in one palm & rub my hands together, then inhale the scent. Sinuses open up, I stop sneezing,, Yeee HAAH! |
Title: Re: Early Spring in the South Post by Tonydtiger1971 on 03/04/12 at 19:54:53 Was so nice until today, high of 48. Still took a two hour ride. |
