Title: Re: Bill Gates "humanitarian" project (not p Post by Paraquat on 08/15/12 at 11:36:33 There was a dog park I read about, I want to say it was in London?, that you dumped your doggie's poo into. It broke down into methane, science happened, and it powered the lights in the park. --Steve |

Title: Re: Bill Gates "humanitarian" project Post by rfw2003 on 08/15/12 at 15:32:03 while I don't really care for the idea, am I the only one that remembers in some scouting camp outs using cow pies as a fire starter? |
Title: Re: Bill Gates "humanitarian" project Post by Paraquat on 08/15/12 at 16:33:55 Nope. We just picked the mushrooms. --Steve |
Title: Re: Bill Gates "humanitarian" project Post by Oldfeller on 08/15/12 at 17:15:08 Must be Midwestern type scouts, here in the Southeast we used pine cones. Didn't they teach you that those cow patties were supposed to be WELL DRIED and seasoned? You'd use up a whole lot of matches to light one with mushrooms still growing out of it ... Besides, they don't let scouts have fires any more, nor knives, nor hatchets (too yuppie dangerous) |
Title: Re: Bill Gates "humanitarian" project Post by rfw2003 on 08/15/12 at 17:29:53 Yeah, they've neutered the scouts as well as everything else. Kinda took the point out of being in the scouts when ya can't learn how to do the wilderness stuff properly. R.F. |
Title: Re: Bill Gates "humanitarian" project Post by Oldfeller on 08/15/12 at 20:57:01 You know how they teach scouts to cook breakfast? Break 2-3 eggs into a zip lock baggie (marked with your initials in permanent marker), toss in some shredded cheese, whup it up some with your plastic fork, seal it up good and toss it into a pot of boiling water and let your scout leader fish it out with a big long handled pair of tongs after 5 minutes. MANDATORY COOL DOWN TIME: wait 5 minutes before opening the zip lock bag and trying to eat any of it. We are systematically teaching scouts to be yuppie wimps. |
