Title: Re: Anybody else get this email? Post by 360k+ on 10/29/12 at 07:55:41 Did anyone actually verify that donation request was really from John? I ask because I had my ID stolen about a year ago via Paypal. A Brit "company" somehow got my ID info and started buying goods on my account. They charged nearly $1500 in two days on iTunes and purchases of other goods online to be delivered to a bogus address in England. My paypal is directly debited to my credit union account (i.e., Paypal is a bonafide creditor), but my VISA backs up the transactions, and it was VISA who actually caught the "unusual activity". Paypal and VISA both reimbursed the purchases, so I had no out of pocket, but I still had to open new accounts and get a new CC, and that is a pain-in-the-arse! |
Title: Re: Anybody else get this email? Post by Trippah on 10/29/12 at 15:04:06 Going through that with my wife right now, 5 bogus purchases at AplItunes back on 10/5 and 10/9. Called the bank, they say my wifes atm card has been compromised. Cut it up, ordered a new one and filled out the forms to the bank on our account that was affected. It is a PIA...especially because my wife has taken possesision of my debit card...poor Debbie, I miss her already. :D |
Title: Re: Anybody else get this email? Post by J C Stokes on 10/30/12 at 03:36:36 Made a small donatation from NZ, no apparent problems. |
Title: Re: Anybody else get this email? Post by Boofer on 10/31/12 at 00:53:59 His address was on here to send a personal check or money order. That may be better for people like me who don't know anything about PayPal and don't trust it. When I buy on the net I call the company and give them my credit card number (And ask questions about the product I'm buying) It is the only card I use for online purchases and has $1000 limit. Just sayin'. :) |
Title: Re: Anybody else get this email? Post by J C Stokes on 10/31/12 at 02:45:26 After I made my small donation, I got an email asking for one. Is this usual? As I stated in an earlier post, my donation seemed to process ok. Paypals foreign exchange rate isn't brilliant. Boofer, I too keep a small limit credit card just for online buying. |
