Title: Need carb rejet advice for K&N - Dyna conversion Post by TaylorT on 04/20/13 at 09:34:32 My bike is a fully stock 1996 Savage I recently purchased a Dyna exhaust 65747-94 and the K&N stock replacement filter. I've also completed the white spacer mod. I know that I need to rejet but I'm finding different jet combinations from other users. I'm riding in Columbus, OH which has an elevation of 902 ft (275 m) As far as my riding style goes: I use this bike as a daily commuter in the city but I do get great pleasure from the weekend sportier ride and being heavier on the throttle. If my weight matters, I'm a measly 165 lbs soakin wet I'm just looking to replace the main and pilot with Mikuni jets for now. Questions: 1) Given these two mods, elevation, and riding style, what are your recommended main/pilot sizes? 2) What's the difference between bleed holes and non-bleed holes? Is there a conversion between the two? (i.e. 52.5 with bleed holes = 55 non-bleed holes) 3) If I later decide to go with one of the aftermarket "kit" style rejets, which one would you recommend with this setup? Thanks in advance for the advice. I've spent a lot of time looking around on this forum, but this is my first post. ;D |

Title: Re: Need carb rejet advice for K&N - Dyna conv Post by Serowbot on 04/20/13 at 09:57:22 Jets are jets... aftermarket is just jets, too.. Bleed holes make no difference,...52.5 is still 52.5... I'd try just stepping up to a #150 main... leave the stock pilot... See how it runs... ;)... ...(I'm at 2600ft... I went to a #150 and actually went down to a #50 pilot)... |

Title: Re: Need carb rejet advice for K&N - Dyna conversi Post by LANCER on 04/21/13 at 07:08:27 You have already made the white spacer change for the mid range; and as S-bot said about the pilot jets, bleed or no bleed, same size = same fuel flow; tune pilot screw for best idle speed (highest rpm) as needed to eliminate backfire but if you get to 3 turns out on the screw and rpm is still increasing &/or it still backfires then you need to go up (larger) on the pilot jet. I agree, 150 main jet is good to start with. |

Title: Re: Need carb rejet advice for K&N - Dyna conversi Post by DaTrader on 07/29/13 at 18:27:46 I've got the same situation and I just ordered a jet kit today. For the dyna muffler and K&N filter can you tell me a good starting point for the spacer mod, pilot and main jet? Thanks Guys |
