Title: gas tank help Post by rfbznb on 06/01/13 at 17:30:38 my gas tank started leaking today so im looking for a new one I was hoping maybe you guys might know of one that fits ok but is bigger. |
Title: Re: gas tank help Post by rfbznb on 06/01/13 at 18:13:43 I took the speedo out and welded in a piece of metal to cover the hole but after 1800 miles it started leaking where I welded the plate in on top. so I was hoping just to get a tank I do not have to weld |
Title: Re: gas tank help Post by clearush on 06/01/13 at 18:14:03 There is no easy direct swap, you'll have to do some hammer work at a minimum on anything you get that's not a savage tank. |
Title: Re: gas tank help Post by Jack_650 on 06/01/13 at 21:46:42 There be truthiness in what clearush says. It's not bad but it s a creative effort. I did a five gallon Harley tank on mine. It involved rerouting wiring, moving all kinds of stuff under the tank and raising the front of the seat quite a bit if you're sticking with the stock chair. Worth it? You bet. I can go a lot farther before needing to stop for gas, which if you're out in the boonies and it's two in the morning, is a good thing indeed. Jack |

Title: Re: gas tank help Post by Dave on 06/02/13 at 12:20:37 Yes.....Don't use it. Either get the POR15 stuff.....or the epoxy stuff from Caswell. Both of those products are far superior to the white acetone based stuff. |

Title: Re: gas tank help Post by rfbznb on 06/02/13 at 17:45:04 its leaking where I welded a plate on top to cover the speedo hole. I just sanded it down today and used some jb-b water weld it says it is for gas tanks. I just finished the bondo and first coat of primer. I hope it works! |
