Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by srinath on 06/05/13 at 06:15:48 The prison business requires that people be incarcerated for long periods of time. That way they can get them labelled as dangerous criminals and make the rest of us stiffs pay taxes for that. Cool. Srinath. |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/05/13 at 18:14:53 The State has no POWER over the law abiding man. In order to Increase its power, the state Must Make MOre people criminals.. |

Much of the laws in the US(and around the world) were written by lawyers to ensure they have enough work to go around. Add that to the Homeowners Assn. rules and other BS regulations like Pine mentions and it becomes clear that all the laws are really "tax collection" methods! |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by srinath on 06/06/13 at 10:06:58 You really have to separate the intent of the law from what it ends up being subverted into. DUI laws are there to stop true drunk driving. The way the law is supposed to work is - hard core drunks who typically drink @ their house and usually drive to buy more alcohol cos they run out ... they should get stopped, and statistically since they are the most likely to be driving drunk, they should get eliminated from society etc etc. That intent has been subverted thus: The limit for DUI is very very low, cops have a quota ... and hence its easier to patrol roads going to the local upscale restaurant that also serves alcohol. So instead of finding the dangerous drunks the hard way, the cops have found the far less dangerous light+social+ocassional+wealthier restaurant patron and fined the living daylights out of him. We oughta impose a quota for each category of drunk. Or have a negative scale, you find a 1 drink drunk - you're going to have to find a more severe case or you're impeding the commerce in a local restaurant. We need to separate corruption, subversion etc etc from intent. If the laws's intent was the right thing @ that time, we should go about eliminating the corruption/dilution. If it was a crappie law, it needs to be deleted and we move on. Cool. Srinath. |

Srinath the problem is the "intent" of the law is to screw the working people out of their hard-earned cash...plain and simple! Always has been that way. Otherwise the public would be allowed to carry firearms and blow away the bastards causing the problems. No laws required. And yes,I'm serious. Way too many on the "prison welfare" system! |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by Starlifter on 06/06/13 at 18:34:16 "The problem is the "intent" of the law is to screw the working people out of their hard-earned cash...plain and simple!" Correct. They're "privatizing" the entire prison system. It's becoming an incarceration for profit system. They give cops quotas. In Michigan they're trying to lower the DUI law from .8 to .5. You can go to a fine restaurant, have a small glass of wine with dinner, and find yourself under arrest on the way home. |

NC as well .4 I think ... in the meantime you can have 12 drinks @ home, get on the road to buy beer, get some, drink it and drive back and never get caught. People who drink @ restaurant/bar are social and light drinkers - afterall who can afford $5 a beer. Catching them is like putting a boat anchor round the neck of the restaurant owner. 99% of the DUI's are this category, if not more. Drunks drink @ home. They rarely ever get caught. MADD seems to be missing the subversion of their misson and are asleep @ the wheel. Cool. Srinath. |

Aint no DELETE key for crappie laws. We actually elect people, pay them outrageous salaries, treat them like royalty, listen to them spout their BS till it makes our heads hurt so they can - wait for it - make up more laws to screw with us. Frickin' insanity IMO. Sometimes I think we really are that stoopid :'( |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/06/13 at 22:12:48 jury nullification again The State has no power against a law abiding man. Therefor, in order to have the power to come down on & crush a man, laws must be enacted to make him a criminal.. Petty laws,, Click it or ticket! I wanna beat a face in every time I hear that,,. |

Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by Jerry Eichenberger on 06/10/13 at 14:26:16 MADD is the problem with the DUI laws. When I learned to drive in the 1960s, the limit in Ohio and most states was .15. Of course, people got killed in accidents involving all sorts of drivers, drinkers and tee totalers, and as we became more politically correct as a society, MADD got going and succeeded in getting the states to lower the limit to .12; and then to .10. Not to be satisfied, MADD then went to Congress and sold them on .08 as a limit, which is now the Federal limit - if states didn't lower their limits to .08, the Feds would have shut off all highway money. Now the fools are pushing for a limit of .05. To me, a life-long drinker, but not an alcoholic, .15 was about right - at that degree, you should not be driving. .08 is silly. Yet, we let people drive who are paraplegic and have only hand controls, we let one eyed and one armed people drive. We let the elderly drive who get so confused that they can't aim their cars thru a bank drive thru window. They are more impaired than anyone who may have a BAC of .08. None of them can react and control the car in an emergency like a normally functioning person can, yet they legally drive with their impairments. It's all about political correctness folks. |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by WD on 06/10/13 at 20:56:25 Political correctness? Than why can't my disabled 40 year old self find a job... Veteran (strike one), Eagle Scout (strike two), white (strike three)... :-? What else... ordained clergy (strike 4), disabled (85% rating) but not enough to get disability pay (strike 5), straight (strike 6), married (strike 7), rural (strike eight)... I know I fit a bunch of the so called "hiring preference" criteria... |

Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by Jerry Eichenberger on 06/11/13 at 06:30:02 I'm not sure that in a purely economic decision, like hiring a person, that there should be any preferences for anything. Affirmative action is a joke - all that should matter is the applicant's ability to perform the job. |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/11/13 at 07:43:04 Affirmative action is a joke - all that should matter is the applicant's ability to perform the job. YEP! & Schools should open their doors to those most likely to succeed. I was denied a job w/ Bell Telephone back in around 1980. The guy closed the door & quietly told me that if I told anyone what he was about to tell me, he would call me a liar. He told me that if I had been female of any color or male of any other color, I would have been hired on the spot. I had my Air Force training papers that showed I had a bit more than the equivalence of an Associated Degree in electronics with me. I was around 26 Y/O & had a commercial license. I could have driven anything they had & done any kind of work they needed in installation & repair.. But NOOOOO,, I was a single white male.. so,, No job for You today! Sorry! Im Full up on white boys today.. |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by Jerry Eichenberger on 06/11/13 at 07:49:46 JOG - My point precisely. And we wonder why our country has fallen behind European and Asian economies? |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/11/13 at 08:21:45 Well,, Theres one of the problems,, |
Title: Re: Racial profiling or ? Post by srinath on 06/11/13 at 11:07:05 I can tell you another of the problems. The jobs are too bloody easy. I used to be a specialist in some aspects of Systems analysis and support. The last time I did that was in 2003. In fact when I was hired for being that specialist, I still worked in garbage 80% of the time. I can be replaced by a monkey. So some hottie out of college - no problem. I am exxagerating, but its pretty close. We need to stop letting people in under all sorts of random pretexts. There is no job "americans wont do" We're not going to work all day in the sun harvesting garlic for $2 a bushel and if you dont make 7.50 - too bad we're gonna adjust your hours to look like you only worked 3 hours when you worked 8 ... That we need slave labor ... I have not in the last 10 years said yes to any moron who wanted me to move to San Francisco for 60K a year to do this or that. I'd promptly say ooo I am getting another call and hang up. When they call me back, I'd say sorry I accepted another offer to go to NYC for 61K cos you only offered 60. But before I had a green card, I had to live in SF and make just enough to scrape by living 50 miles away and commuting 2 hours 1 way. Cool. Srinath. |
