Title: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by kuri77 on 10/09/13 at 16:57:14 Haven't seen one so am thinking these parts based on the posts I've read. Don't want to get it apart and find out I have to wait a week to get something I forgot to order. References are from the pic posted by Savage_Greg here titled "Savage "Plug/Cap" Leak" It's the second post down in the thread from 10/31/04. http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1099227295 part #9 o-ring cyl head Bikebandit 1035241 (quantity 1) $1.73 part #12 cap cyl head " 1034916 (quantity 1) $9.46 part #27 gasket " 1025727 (quantity 5) $1.73 each In Savage_Greg's other pic post 3 it shows 6 gaskets so is the part quantity of 5 incorrect? Thanks for the posts Greg, Chris |

Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by TheProduct2007 on 10/09/13 at 18:58:01 I just did mine and all I got was so RTV sealant and the plug. |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by Dave on 10/10/13 at 05:13:22 If you want to be extra sure.....some of the head bolts have special washers with rubber seals built into them, and a right rear bolt that has the locating sleeve also has an oval shaped rubber O-Ring that seals the oil port. |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by splash07 on 10/10/13 at 08:06:18 all I used was the RTV, everything else I reused. As long as all the orings and plug are still in good shape then I don't see why you cant re-use them. |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/10/13 at 09:24:00 Ive been inside there 2 or 3 times,, all you need is the plug & the right kinda goo..I never torqued the head bolts, plug never leaked, sold it with 20,014 miles on it, |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by kuri77 on 10/11/13 at 12:14:57 Thanks for the replies. Since I only have 7500 on the bike I'll guess that those washers and o-ring don't need replacing yet. |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/11/13 at 12:38:22 Probably,, unless someone has been in & damaged them,, or the factory pinched an Oring,, havent seen that yet,, 7500 miles & leaking? Dang..I wonder if someone tightened the head bolts,, |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by Digger on 09/26/14 at 12:23:39 I'm just getting ready to do this job (again), and here is my comprehensive parts list (prices listed are taken from the Ron Ayers (http://www.ronayers.com/LS650P-SAVAGE-C25261.aspx) site): 11178-24B00 (x1) - Oblong o-ring ($1.27) 09280-60004 (x2) - Valve cover o-rings ($2.38 ea.) 09168-06023 (x5) - Gasket washers ($1.27 ea.) - Although only 5 are needed for the job, it is best to have 7 on hand, since there are two other places where these little gasket washers are used (on bolts that don't NEED to be removed to do this job). If you see signs of leakage from either of said two bolts, you will want to replace their gasket washers while you are in there. 09241-30008 (x1) - Camshaft end cap ($4.46) 11145-41B01 (x1) - Cylinder head rubber plug ($8.26) - This is the "new style," solid rubber plug. IHTH someone! |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by Ed L. on 09/26/14 at 15:17:43 All I did was smear a thin skin of RTV Ultra Black on the mating surfaces and rubber bolt washers. I reused the cam shaft end plug and funny shaped "O" ring after a good cleaning. If it leaks I've only myself to blame. The right side cover gasket cost almost $30.00 at the local stealership and came without any KY jelly ;). |
Title: Re: Parts list for doing engine plug swap Post by justin_o_guy2 on 09/26/14 at 16:19:19 Back When,, I went to an independent shop for my gasket. They have a machine like a printer. It runs gasket material thru. They insert a CD that Tells it the pattern & it cuts it out. I paid $14.00. Uh Huhh,, doesnt come with the factory "Goo" applied around the oil passages at the bottom, but,, Mine never leaked,,Its worth calling around. Never know what kinda deal ya mite find. |
