On my ryca, it has the LED tail / signals and LED signals up front. I assume stock in 06 they were standard filament type?

If so, in the ryca build, is a different flasher unit for leds installed?
Also: any issue leaving blinkers LEDs (Id like to break them out of the tail light assy, and put them out on stalks)....and using filament tail / stop DOT approved lights?

Is mix / matching OK, is what I'm getting at....

You can mix LEd and filament type bulbs without worry. Due to their low resistance, LEDs will always result in a fast flash sequence. You can simply add an inline resistor to achieve the correct flash.

The eletronic flasher module that needs to be installed to run LED light properly, can also run the filament bulbs just fine.

The LED tail light with built in turn signals is not DOT, and is not safe to use alone. It cannot be readily seen in direct sunlight and will not get a drivers attention if they are distracted. I bought the same tail light off eBay that has only the tail and brake light (no turn signals), and it can be bought with either a clear or red lens....buy the one that matches your paint color best. Then install a supplemental brake light under the seat where the RYCA seat pan stops. Any one of these can be set to the non-flashing setting and used for a brake light...and they can be combined with the led pulse module that flashes the light 3 times and then burns steady if you want even more attention.

For turn signals I originally bought some of the small LED turn signals that have 11-13 small LED lights....and once again they cannot be seen inthe daylight. I then bought some very small turn signals with filament bulbs, and they were not much better as they used small bulbs and did not have any reflectors. I made them work well by installing a pair of 1.5 watt LED light heads in each turn signal. There are a lot of small turn signals out there that are sport bike takeoffs on eBay that are cheap, would be seen easily, and would be great turn signals with just a little bit of work to get them mounted. If you do buy LED turns signals....get bright ones.

Typical sport bike turn signal that might work really well if the mount can be adapted. The sport bike guys remove their rear fenders and turn signals right away. These are DOT approved and would work well.

Don't buy these type with the small led bulbs no matter how many bulbs there are....they are just too dim to be seen.

not quite correct. you install the resister parallel to the light bulb to induce the current required to make the flasher work right.

kind of a waste if your aim was to reduce current load.

Why not just use an electronic flasher then the load makes no difference?
