Hey all, just been looking at the gallery and I noticed that a lot of the bikes when on the side stand seemed to be more upright than mine. Whenever I put my bike on the sidestand there's a couple of milli-seconds there when I feel like its going over cos I've forgotten to put the stand down. I was just wondering if there is something that can be done just to help it sit a bit more upright when on the side stand or is there a sidestand from another bike that would do the job, cheers m'dears.

That's because you park on the other side of the road. ;D
I'm English and I often wondered about an American side stand and how it would work in the UK.

P.S. you could bend the side stand a bit. It might help.

Another thought. Did you raise the bike any? That would make it lean more.

Don't bend it, stick a hockey puck on it, trim to fit the frame.

with 12 1/2" shocks, I use 2 hockey pucks bolted to the kickstand. works great!

At home I park it on a chunk of board. On the road, it gets parked how it gets parked. Hasn't fallen over yet. 2003 has Progressive long shocks, 1998 has Intruder shocks.

If you plan to park on warm asphalt, flatten a beer can to put under the side stand.

Harley Davidson bikes have a horrible side stand. Longer than the one on our cute little toy bikes, yet the bikes lean almost twice as far. Without tumbling 90% of the time (stand has a detent that if you miss it, bike will roll enough to fold the stand up).

Ahh the rear shocks are a couple of inches over so maybe the hockey puck is the way to go - but tbh I'm not sure where to get one -what are they made of so I can find something of a similar nature, cheers

Took a old tire, off a truck, from the junk yard,
Thick rubber. (Used a Saw's-Awl)
Cut it to shape, (and a little bigger)
drilled a couple of 10/24 holes in the side stand.
Fastened the, ‘tire’ piece to it.
Works for me.

Just stick an unruly brat under the end, it'll raise the bike and keep the unruly brat out of your way till you leave ;D

Thanks for all the advice ( practical - puck, old tyres, and impractical - unruly brats :), ) but have used a piece of hard rubber cut to size and will attach to stand with bolts methinks - will let you know how it works, cheers all
