Title: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by Serowbot on 01/11/16 at 07:37:46 JOG asked me to forward this info to the site. Had a bumpy day. Thought I was clear of the backhoe front bucket and stood up, but not quite all the way, then I laid down and thrashed around a while. Thought it was just a goose egg, till I ran my hand under the cap and it came back bloody. I got my daughter to shave it with a straight razor and the SIL cut the butterflies. She showed me pics so I could tell her how to work on it. Best I can tell, that is not actually a cut. The goose egg is below the split. I think it's torn, because the hoodie and the cap, neither one is cut. Anyway, id post this, but dunno how. If you don't mind, put it up? Not sure about how I'm gonna be tomorrow. The crunching sounds coming from the neck scared me. So far, range of motion is okay, but stiffening up. Wishing him well... - Serow http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/serowbot/IMG_0368_zpsutqoow7e.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt82/serowbot/IMG_0371_zpsge2pyx9a.jpg |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/11/16 at 08:26:44 Thanks guys. Actually, once I drew back the bloody hand and realized I was gonna need help fixing it, I shut down the backhoe and told my daughter to get the first aid kit and meet me in the shop. We fixed it up, I didn't work anymore, because after something like that, mistakes are easy to make, but I had a good evening, till about nine, when the torque in the neck started tightening up. Got some rubbing and some traction, head pulling, heating pad, slept in the chair to keep swelling down. Past injuries taught me a lot. I put pressure on it several times through the day, had a good day ,actually. Played chess, played with the grandson, I feel fine. Just finished doing some more shaving and retaped it. Still got some blood in my hair, got a dental appointment today, but I'm not gonna shower or scrub on and wiggle the scalp. After studying it, im sure that is a torn line. No way it's a cut. I just hope the hair grows back. I can't afford any losses. Just thought you folks would like to see what a Gin You Wine boo boo looks like. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by Dave on 01/11/16 at 09:00:55 How fast do you stand up? It is incredible what can happen when you bang heads with an immovable object! Big pieces of steel just don't seem to have any "give" to them. I suppose that is why they wear hard hats on construction projects. You might want to avoid wearing a stocking cap for a while....I would hate to have to peel it off the wound at the end of the day. Get Well Soon! |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by stewmills on 01/11/16 at 10:19:04 Get well! I think you need to take some that yellow spray paint in your garage and repaint the bucket so you can see it next time...but I guess it wouldn't have helped here unless you had eyes in the back of your head. :D |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by springman on 01/11/16 at 12:16:44 Oh man JOG, that hurts just looking at it. I would say that needs some stitches but I guess if you keep the skin together with the butterflies it should heal fine though it might take a bit longer :o. Best of luck to you. |
|
Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by springman on 01/11/16 at 13:02:04 Hey JOG, I work for a doctor and I asked him about how to treat a 2 to 3 inch gash on the head. He did indicate that it would heal fastest with stitches but that if you keep the skin together via butterflies or whatever means and apply neosporin regularly you should be fine. Apparently the scalp generally has very good circulation and therefore cuts there rarely get infected. Good luck. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/11/16 at 18:16:31 The head is doing great. I'm getting some crunching in the neck, though. I'm thinking I better see a chiropractor. It made some scary noises when I hit it. Dave, I was walking, stooped over, and Thought I was clear. I didn't Jump up, I just started standing up easy. People don't realize how fast they are moving till they contact something that isn't and Won't. I'm sure a trip to the ER would have been better, but I don't want stitches, I've been injured before, seen what a knuckle looks like, didn't see a doctor then. I was on a rig, tough up or go home,, The cut will heal. I'm worried about the neck. I cracked three vertebrae years ago, and it made noise back then, too. It was really noisy when I hit . The crunching and cracking sounds were loud |
|
Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by Kris01 on 01/11/16 at 19:09:50 Aaaaaah! Stop saying "crunching and cracking"! :o I'm getting a bad mental image. ;D I did the same thing years ago except I didn't cause any damage. I just had a headache for a little while. Try some Advil. They worked wonders for me last time I was hurt. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/12/16 at 08:16:33 I'm not often working in that kinda spot, but im considering a hard hat. That would have changed the whole thing. Not sure just how different the neck would have been affected, but the blood letting would have been avoided. |

Preoccupied with the job, and I had already successfully made the same move at least six times in the last hour. And yeah, you don't even know how fast you're walking till you hit something, I was stooped over, feeling pretty okay, preoccupied, and stood up too soon. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by old_rider on 01/13/16 at 22:30:49 When I was a government contractor I purchased a hard hat for personal use. I told the military that their hats were never disinfected before issued, so they let me buy mine. Well after I purchased mine, the other contract workers got jealous and bought their own. About a year later, the "boss" a Master Sargent... decided that he didn't want anything other than plain old colors... we had to buy different hard hats... so I use the one I bought at home and when ever I need it. |

Looks like I won't be needing your art work. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/14/16 at 18:49:04 Nope, I turned 61 in December. What you're looking at is a well trained and experienced Body. It's been kept in practice. I hear so much about muscle memory and such, but nobody wants to talk about keeping the healing mechanisms in tune. I generally have at least one cut or scrape healing up. I'm driving again, and feeling better, generally. Working out a little, very low intensity, jump rope, playing outside with the grandson. I'm gonna live, I guess. A year ago, I didn't think so. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/15/16 at 18:57:38 Thanks to all for the kindness and caring and most particularly the, control of the laughter. I'm gonna guess that the bloody beginning and the size of the exposed tear in my scalp together made it a Totally Not Funny event. I'm thinking I'm gonna get a hard hat for working around the backhoe. Still considering that. Not sure yet. I AM still very cautious about hitting my head. It did bruise, but not a little spot. I only really saw it today, it's kinda greenish far enough away from the impact spot that I didn't notice. I was looking for some target shaped bruise with the center of it where the goose egg was/is,, still, upon inspection, a bit tender and swollen. I'm as surprised as anyone that it healed up so quickly. It's not quite done, but it's sure done a really good job of closing up with just the initial work and then one time I retaped it as the swelling dropped off and I thought I could pull edges a bit closer. Usually a wound needs more attention to get it closed up and minimize scarring. Maybe if it was where I could really get a good enough look at it I wouldn't be so impressed. Can't wait to see how it looks with hair. But then, I keep mine buzzed off anyway. The #2shield on the clippers, and a mirror. Birthdays at Christmas time... I had my first birthday party at age nineteen. My daughter was born on the twentieth. I made Sure she knew her birthday was special. PG All I see is a blue square, no picture. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by Sonny on 01/19/16 at 08:45:35 Glad you're healing up, Justin. Keep a-coming. I laid my scalp open when I was a kid, right on the crown of the head, jumping up into the corner of an open steel cabinet door. Hurt like blazes, bled like a stuck pig. I lost a lot of blood before the doc sutured it up. I must have cut a little artery up there, it didn't want to stop bleeding. Scalp injuries can bleed you out before you can get help. You might have been lucky on this one, which I'm sure will be your last! ;) best, S. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by Kris01 on 01/19/16 at 17:35:30 I knew a guy once who cut his head on a barbed wire fence. He also stood up a little too fast without looking. To make a long story short, head wounds bleed profusely! |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/20/16 at 09:40:39 Hell, even my friend's sister was a little afraid of me after that Well, that's kinda messed up, but you know what society has done to teach people about agression and violence. I'm impressed. You got hurt doing the right thing, and didn't quit even though you got nailed in the head. You got up, meaner, NOW that they not only outnumber you, they have resorted to weapons. My rule is. I don't START trouble. I have the right to Do Anything to stop it. Folding a knee backwards is fine. Breaking bones, getting the weapon, wearing it OUT on them, Fine. Id like to think you would have done the same thing for anyone being assaulted. I carry a knife. I survived Odessa Texas when it was the murder capital. Someone is walking around with a big scar on a hand. He punched me while I was sitting in the car. I didn't see him coming, but w a s distracted by his friend on the other side of the car. I knew stuff was bad, had the knife in my hand. Looked left just in time to block. He punched the blade. We circled the ER for hours.a very bloody towel on the floorboard. I saw a guy years later at a gas station. Scar from between the fingers to the wrist. Didn't speak, just filled up and went on. He would have broken the bones in my face. The handle hit my nose hard enough to bruise it. And bruising me, back then, just wasn't easy. |

Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/20/16 at 12:13:55 A side kick to a knee can be camouflaged by hand movement that would look like the beginning of a punch, focusing their attention high, and a low kick allows more weight put on it. Nobody taught me anything, but I got bullied and threatened. I Looked at how they were standing and really thought about how they could proceed, then I thought about how to counter and I practiced in the house, working out with forty pounds, till I could snap off forty French curls in under forty seconds. And I had 28"thighs and a 30" waist. But I avoided trouble as much as possible. I don't like fighting. None. But wrestling with friends was great. The bigger the better, as long as they knew that it was just in fun and don't break anything... bruises and scrapes , p a rt of the territory,, Since I didn't go to the ER with the head wound, you gotta know I was pretty tough. I don't fall down and cry when I get a hard knock. |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by Art Webb on 01/21/16 at 07:22:33 I don't like fighting either, I got good at it so I could spend as little time as possible doing it I learned through a combination of training and experience, and count myself lucky I had male role models who could help me with this Dad taught me 'walk away from a fight if you can, never run' even if you get beaten, if you get in some good licks, the other guy will think twice next time But being a target all my life, once I learned to stand up for myself, I stood up for others too Any time I saw a weaker person being victimized, I stepped in Just seemed the right thing to do Love the new avvy |

Title: Re: Hey JOG,... be well buddy... Post by justin_o_guy2 on 01/21/16 at 21:16:45 Well, if I'm gonna get half scalped and bleed like the dickens and the end result be So cool and make such a great start,, and then someone throws down some talent and makes it funny? Ohh, yeah. I needed an avatar. Paladin sent me a different kind. Looks like something out of Dysfunctional Family Circle. I have to get that in. How do I find when JOG2 signed up? Before that I was JOG, then, that account stopped letting me in, and I signed up as JOG1. I need to take the avatar and put it somewhere safe, in case This account craps out on me. I have No interest in reproducing the wound for Paladin to draw on. |
