Title: Uber shooting Post by verslagen1 on 02/22/16 at 15:08:30 http://news.yahoo.com/obama-renews-gun-control-call-kalamazoo-shooting-190203973.html the comments were interesting... there was a listing of shootings that were stopped by a good guy with a gun. run down that list till you find the school shooting stopped by students with guns :o I hope that was an adult school. |

Title: Re: Uber shooting Post by bobert_FSO on 02/22/16 at 19:03:50 I wish the news media would stop associating the Kalamazoo shooter with Uber. See, Versy, you did it in the title of this thread. OK, he worked for Uber, but that fact has nothing to do with the event. I'm not particularly a fan of Uber. I have never used them. However, I don't think a company should get a bad rep and possibly lose business just because one crazy guy worked for them. |

I feel quite the opposite, uber doesn't check their drivers at all. drunks, felons, etc. you don't know who's going to pick you up. |

Title: Re: Uber shooting Post by bobert_FSO on 02/23/16 at 08:07:07 From what I've read, the shooter had a clean background check. There was nothing to indicate any criminal or anti-social behavior. What is Uber to do? A background check on me would look the same. I could go on a shooting rampage tomorrow and no one would know that it was coming. |

Title: Re: Uber shooting Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/24/16 at 20:29:03 Im so torn. I know what some taxi services go through just to Get the Badge Like NYC... that's just extortion. Now, toss in freelance competition. I see victims of the system, who Paid the fees and bribes got a license being ruined by What? Free Market entrepreneurship. The Libertarian in me says Great! The human in me feels bad and wants to protect the existing cabbies. At the end of the day, I Have to support Uber. Let the corrupt system die. Will psychopaths Give the woman a ride And she disappears? Probably. I'm aware of cops raping women. At the end of the day, if you take chances and Don't protect yourself, well,,, if you don't, who can? I jumped out of a cab in Odessa. Dude couldn't drive for squat. |

Title: Re: Uber shooting Post by WebsterMark on 02/25/16 at 07:25:34 I use Uber all the time. Fantastic business model. It will do to taxi companies what the cell phone has done to landlines. |

Title: Re: Uber shooting Post by justin_o_guy2 on 02/25/16 at 18:29:50 Interesting analogy. I dig the free market. Head to head competition. What's been The System, like in NY, scription: Unrestricted medallion not on any accessable lists. Will finance with 20 % down good credit with 4% interested for 20 years or less 02/19/2016 Independent Available: 1 Price: $525,000.00 Restriction: Accessible Contact: Andrew 732-495-6480 Description: Will fiancé with 25 percent down Really?? It guts me to think about the people who have mortgaged their lives for the Privilege of driving a Taxi... But, just as the phone company got out competed.... And losses were incurred,, every game has a winner and a loser. Life is tough. The Market is supposed to pick winners and losers. Not the goobs. Hmmm, They kinda Did in the whole Bail out thing. QE howevermany.... |
