Because they had inherent value because the king would only accept them for property taxes. They died because of other aspects of the economy. The greenback is a study unto itself. It wasn't constitutional, as far as I have come to understand to date. Yet, it Did wind up being honored, and bought back from the holders, in gold. BUT, the Faith in them had fallen in comparison to other currencies and it would take three greenbacks to buy what a gold backed dollar would buy. Now, the monied policy makers Knew that All they had to do was buy up greenbacks at a discount, then set the buyback policy at one to one, bingo, tripled Their Money. Ohh, and the only actually socialist society that worked was Libya. How those people lived was amazing. Goob money for medical, haul you to wherever country they have the ability to fix you, pay for it. No electricity bills, gasoline almost free, Education free. And Gadaffi was not running much of anything. And built the worlds greatest irrigation system so that the People could create farmland. All done with oil money. Now, does America have sufficient natural resources to utilize to create wealth, through exports, sufficient to support the People? Could we Nationalize the oil and coal and iron ore and everything else and create something like that? Darn if I know. It'd take a team of mathematicians, economists, and who knows what, to even analyze the resources, determine how to utilize them, and, unlike oil just ooozing out of the ground, coal requires Labor... What was a WORK week , for the average Libyan? Someone has to stock the shelves at the store. Turn the pump on at the station. Stick the tank, order a tanker truck. Socialist doesn't mean sitting on the couch eating bon bons. But the Libyan life , from what I've gathered, would have made those people chanting America, we're number one stop and think. But we dont HAVE the ability to export enough oil , as a nation, and spread the profits Throughout the nation, and Do what Gadaffi did. Or, maybe we do,, But, the rich ain't gonna quit getting rich. The POINT IS, the economic system is Rigged to EAT the nation, slowly. I doubt the ones who disagree are even reading this. But, until EVERYONE stops believing the lies, the Few who understand will just Have to keep making the points. |
