Hey guys.

So I'm getting to know my 1987 LS650 more and more, day by day... One thing that confuses me is that my bike has 5 - yes FIVE gears. All the online specs I've seen state that the 1987 model is FOUR speed. So I'm wondering which is correct. Im happy to have 5 gears, of course. But is it possible that the engine in my bike has been swapped out for a later model?

It certainly grates on my nerves when I shift into neural and try to accelerate.

Hehehe.... I was showing off my cabbage to a friend of mine last week and they asked me if I had reverse on the thing. I said, "Gee, I never thought about it. Having a bike at 380 lbs, I push it around wherever I want to." ;)

13 reverse gear for me... Used to squat over 490 in highschool.. Probably mid 3 now if i had to..
