Title: Sovereign Citizen-or-How to get your window broken Post by Dave on 01/27/17 at 05:40:04 This is my first post in this section - but it doesn't belong in the Cafe' .........as I guess it is most likely related to politics. I was watching "Instant Karma" videos on YouTube when my wife had her PBS drama on the TV, and I happened across a video of some folks who call themselves Sovereign Citizens. These people claim to be immune from all laws and attempts by Law Enforcement Officers to get any form of compliance.....what begins as a request to see a Drivers License most often ends up in a broken window and the driver being pulled from the car. Most of the Officers were extremely patient and gave the drivers a lot of opportunity to do the right thing - but the drivers are not easily convinced that compliance with the requests from the Officer are the right course of action. I am posting this so that you know that these folks exist - in case you happen to become involved with one of them. In several places I have read that they don't believe that US currency is valid....or believe in Taxation.......so how do they make money or pay for anything?. I think you should remove the locks on your house and put up a sign, welcoming anyone to raid your refrigerator. Wouldn't you have uninvited people removed from your house? If a good fence would eliminate or greatly diminish the number of people who decided to come mooch off of you, would you build one? You didn't answer why it's Illogical to put tariffs on goods imported from places where our beef isn't welcome.. and I understand that. It's because you're just too wrong to be able to make Trump look wrong. If you answered it, just show me. I can't wait to see what you came up with to justify calling a direct, pointed, retaliatory economic response to a policy that hurts OUR ability to Export product. How better than to make it harder for them to Export to us? I anxiously await your insightful and, with deep understanding of economic principles, explanation that will drag me out of my ignorance induced stupor. |

There are practically no bikes in the 51 to 500cc range coming from Europe... Secondly,.. what relationship do bikes have with beef?... Nonsensical... Why not a tariff on olive oil, or wine from European countries... that would make more sense... It seems they wanted an intentionally toothless tariff... Why?... Symbolism?... |

Is it even RIGHT to Pry the door to a market open through economic sanctions when the Reason why they don't want our beef is the CRAP we pump into it. They have a government that is actually trying to protect their people. They aren't closing the door to our beef to protect their market, they are doing it to protect their People. Their long term Health. If we want their business, we need to produce a product that meets their needs. I didn't know Why the door was closed when I initially supported the tariff. Aaaand Now, the Sovereign Citizen movement.. I Think there is a chance that there is something there that would afford people a bit of a buffer against the intrusive nanny state, but I don't know just how far that goes. The absolute slave mentality that some people seem to believe is the extent of their Rights is just the other side of the same coin. I'd like to know more about the individuals who are pushing it so hard. There are few ways to discredit an idea more effective than to enlist idiots to carry it over the edge of reason. Don't judge the concept based on the behavior of a few. I know how difficult it is to embrace a concept of freedom in a place where Control has been there All Our Lives. What exactly gives the state the right to demand I register My car to travel on My road? The license thing is beyond all but one or two of you to grasp. Why people are so determined to make sure nobody breaks a link in our chains. Nobody is suggesting that people should operate a vehicle without first passing tests to prove profency. Can a Right be forfeited? I don't know,, But it's irresponsible to be on the road and not have insurance to pay for any damage I might accidentally cause. I carry the next step higher coverage than legal minimum. It's super cheap and adds a lot of coverage. Except for insurance, I agree with the old man, third clip, I think. But, if you can't wrap your head around not needing a license, even though the SCOTUS has said it, then you will never understand what the federal reserve really is. |
