Let's assume the worse, and Trump has to go......
He resigns.
Pence becomes president, which seems ok.
Who would you guess for vice?

Note: I don't want to get in a pizzing match about Trump, etc, I just thought this could be fun.

I would guess a John kasich, maybe?

Would it be the Speaker of the House?

Best regards,

I believe , as noted above, the Speaker of the House (Heaven Help Us) but J Kasich would be my vote.

The new President - Pence - can appoint anyone he chooses for VP. The appointment is subject to congressional approval, much like a cabinet appointment. I've got no clue who Pence might pick though.

That list only pertains to who becomes PRESIDENT if the person at the top of the list is unable to serve, woking the way down. It has nothing to do with the Vice President.

For example. When Nixon resigned and Ford became President, he appointed Nelson Rockefeller as Vice President. At the time Rockefeller was a Private citizen. He was the Ex Governor of NY but when he was appointed Vice President he held no public office.
