Title: Cylinder gasket, lower Post by Mekh on 02/24/17 at 06:18:52 Hi, I'm about to assemble my engine again, but when I put on the lower cylinder gasket it looks like it does not fit properly on the outer right side. The package of gasket I ordered is labelled with Suzuki LS 650 '86-02. Mine is a '93. What do you think? http://https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/295041/Billeder/SuzukiSavage/2017-02-24_Gasket_03.PNG http://https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/295041/Billeder/SuzukiSavage/2017-02-24_Gasket_02.PNG http://https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/295041/Billeder/SuzukiSavage/2017-02-24_Gasket_01.PNG |

Title: Re: Cylinder gasket, lower Post by SALB on 02/24/17 at 10:48:20 It almost looks as though it's been been bent. :-? Do you have access to another engine (even assembled) that you could compare it too? |

Title: Re: Cylinder gasket, lower Post by batman on 02/24/17 at 10:51:54 To me it looks like the gasket is cut straight ,and the case is cast funny,I think you could use it as there is little pressure in this area when the piston moves down the air moves through the "huff" tube into the air box. How does the cylinder match up if the gasket is placed on the bottom of it? If it really bothers you I would get some material and cut my own using a pattern based on the case top and the bottom of the cylinder. |

Title: Re: Cylinder gasket, lower Post by youzguyz on 02/24/17 at 14:22:55 I just replaced my base gasket not too long ago, and it fit a lot better than that. You bought a "package of gasket"? From where? Just asking, as that does not look like OEM to me. An OEM gasket has some sealant on it. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/suzuki/SP-11241-24B01-H17.html |

No. That is only for the head gasket. On the base gasket, I used a very thin layer of Yamabond, hoping it will help to release the gasket if I ever have to take it apart again. Took me a week to clean that gasket off.. |

Title: Re: Cylinder gasket, lower Post by Mekh on 04/09/17 at 05:56:21 Sorry about the long reply time... Have had some family challenges... I ended out ordering an original gasket, but that one to be almost identical. Engine is assembled now, and I will hopefully get to try and fire it up some time over the next week. |
