Title: Trump's address to Congress Post by eau de sauvage on 02/28/17 at 23:50:12 The stand out moment for me amid all the contrived clichés was when he said “This is a mission that was started before I got here, this is something that was, they wanted to do”, Trump said, referring to “my generals”, before adding, “and they lost Ryan.” “Why at this time did there have to be this stupid mission when it wasn’t even barely a week into his administration? Why? For two years prior, there were no boots on the ground in Yemen — everything was missiles and drones — because there was not a target worth one American life. Now, all of a sudden we had to make this grand display?’’ http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article135064074.html Says it all really, he's the chief commander, he is the one who gives the final order, he is the one whose job it is to take all the information and parse it. He's clearly unqualified for this role. This mission has been in the planning stage for some time. If Obama thought it would be a good idea to launch he would have done so if only for the political gain that a successful strike would entail. But Obama wisely must have not been satisfied with the intel vs risks vs whatever else the chief commander has to decide. Not gung ho Trump, no he's only been there five days and he must have wanted to see what its like to be able to give the final order. The mission was a disaster waiting to happen and this Navy SEAL, the elite of the elite was sent in on the whim of a fool only to be killed on a pointless mission. Civilians killed, Yemen outraged, 75 million $ aircraft destroyed (deliberately) and one dead SEAL. However Trump, the commander in chief tries to throw off responsibility onto the previous govt. |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by Trippah on 03/01/17 at 07:30:11 Given how shallow Tweety bird is, you wonder if he went ahead so he could brag relative to Obama and the OBL raid. I hate to say it, but his Office of Immigrant Harassment sounds like the SS all over again. I used to think he was just a Mussolini clone, but I am beginning to think he is even more like Der Fuhrer than even I thought. And since I think he is a lying sack of S**t, this may be even worse than I thought. Hopefully the Congress will step up to the plate and save us (but not holding my breath). Putin/Stalin, Tweety/Uncle Adolph. Will the third leg be China? We humans are very slow learners aren't we. Think of all the Mushrooms we'll see this time. ;D ;D ;D ;D |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by WebsterMark on 03/01/17 at 08:33:03 So wait a second....the last president forced you to purchase a product regardless if you wanted it or not, if you didn't buy it you face fines. If u don't pay those fines, the money will either be taken from you or you will be jailed....and you compare Trump to socialist dictators? Seriously? |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by Serowbot on 03/01/17 at 10:11:22 You know as well as I do, Web... What Dem's want is a National single payer system... The current plan is the one the Pub's would accept, and it's a mandate plan... A Republican idea... Own it... |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by WebsterMark on 03/01/17 at 13:00:52 That's been a lie from day one but keep telling yourself that. How many Reps voted for it? |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by eau de sauvage on 03/01/17 at 13:54:07 His speech to Congress was so so er... restrained and dare I say precedential. In fact the lack of hyperbole was unpresidented. |

precedential? Ironic use? unpresidented? We've been that way since Kennedy. |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by Trippah on 03/01/17 at 20:02:48 If he is holding out a green branch, look carefully that it isn't poison ivy rather than an olive branch. His speech was not bad, whether he was using the widow is between him and her, only they know for sure. I will say that I didn't watch much of it at the time, the format is so boldly and blatantly bs (as they have been for years)I just couldn't. Topic one, pan camera to victim/hero related to topic; topic 2 pan camera to individual related to topic (Opps, forgot the applause button, my bad). >:( I would rather hear how the plans affect people and how they will be paid for. |

Title: Re: Trump's address to Congress Post by eau de sauvage on 03/01/17 at 21:14:02 Ironic that his BS outright banning of Yemenis from the US, people who are vetted over a period of two years has likely been responsible for the disastrous intel leak concerning the botched raid that killed Ryan. In this one idiotic decision he's probably done more damage to the White Houses mission to fight terrorism that anything done in the past 10 years. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/a-raid-in-remote-yemen-and-a-seals-death-still-reverberate-for-trump/2017/03/01/0adc7b32-fd08-11e6-8ebe-6e0dbe4f2bca_story.html?tid=pm_world_pop&utm_term=.f3d35437439c “I served under commander in chief George W. Bush. I disagreed with him, I didn’t vote for him, I thought his war was a mistake. But he took responsibility for it,” said Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), a former Marine Corps officer who served four tours of duty in Iraq. “President Trump is not a leader. He’s a coward. Real leaders take responsibility.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/donald-trump-has-become-the-dont-blame-me-president/2017/03/01/bbe706d2-fe01-11e6-8f41-ea6ed597e4ca_story.html?tid=hybrid_collaborative_1_na&utm_term=.560193b86440 |
