Title: Deterrent......????
Post by raydawg on 04/28/17 at 08:17:11

I am in the fence about capital punishment and the death sentences.
I might imagine if I had a loved killed by a repeated killer, it would help me to decide.
Reading this story, it made me wonder if showing executions live, on TV, etc, and mandatory viewing in the prison population, if it might prove to be a deterrent?

The current believe that executions not appear to be "torturous and inhumane." make showing public executions mandatory unnecessarily torturous to the snowflakes.  And until they come up with the magic bullet that renders one dead in milliseconds or instantly vaporized, a death sentence is in danger as a punishment.

The thing I don't get,... is... Your vet can put your dog to sleep with a single shot and it happens in 5 or 10 seconds...

I'm not for capital punishment myself... estimated 1 in 25 are innocent, plus, it costs more to execute, than to keep for life...
...but, if they're going to do it... they should hire a vet... :-?

cost is related to time on death row, and appeals.

Quote:
The average time on death row more than doubled from 6 years and 2 months in 1984 to 15 years and 5 months in 2013. The primary reason inmates left death row is because their sentences or convictions were overturned (58.2%) and not because of execution (24.8%)

and on top of every conviction, there are the fight for life crowd that try to commute every sentence.

If the obvious needs defended, then Bot should defend it
I don't need it, I see the obvious. It's completely ridiculous to need some fabulous cocktail. Want someone gone, painlessly? Ask an anesthesiologist. Put them to sleep, and make it permanent.
But, I have seen enough people released from death row after enough evidence came out to clear them. Too many times incompetence and/or corruption have sent innocents to death.
