Title: Multiple exhaust pipe changes
Post by Eegore on 06/28/17 at 10:27:55

I want to build a few different muffler setups and figured it would be easiest to just replace the whole pipe from the header each time instead of cutting/welding the same pipe.

Is this going to cause issues?  I use Anti-seize on the bolts and hand-tighten.

The compression seal at the header/head junction usually survives reinstallation a few times. I massage mine gently to open it a fraction.

A Gentle hand on the header bolts.

We usually don't weld mufflers to the header.

The stock header has a bit of a weird size OD at the outlet - the RYCA angle adapter changes the outlet end to a 1-3/4" OD so that the EMGO muffler will fit....and that also happens to be the size of most Harley mufflers.

Put anti-sieze on the slip joint to help you get the header and muffler apart when you decide to make a change.

Yeah I meant using a single pipe and cutting/welding a new muffler on the back end every time I want to make a change.

I'd rather have 4-6 complete pipes with various mufflers.

Each new exhaust configuration may require jeting changes or adjustments.

You can get a Supertrapp and change the number of disks.

That's what I am looking for.  I will need to learn how to adjust a carb and since I've been told here its not possible to tune a carb with my current exhaust I need to get a number of options so I can learn.

If the engine is stock and you want a tad more power,
Stick a Dyna on it.

I've got a Dyna already, just need to get a pipe to put it on.
