I think back to how captive I was to booze. Why did I choose to believe it was an answer, or escape.... Why did I believe it enhanced my life, instead of detracting from it and making me a slave to its power? Why did I believe its lie? Why did I forfeit my will, to its reign over me, refusing to see the truth in what it did to me and countless others? But you know what, I don't need an answer ;) I accept the truth for what it is, as a grateful alcoholic, for every sip that burned my throat, well, not every one ;D , was part of my journey to who I am today. Did I make mistakes, hell yes, still do.... Did I hurt people, yes, tho that wasn't my intentions, but more a result of my choices.... But I own it, amend it where I can, and accept that which I can't. Do I wish I had done a better, absolutely, but I don't linger on it. No, I use the past, to guide me to the present, learning from it, not dwelling in it. I can look myself in the eye, and accept that man, as good enough, today. Tomorrow is not here yet, I need not worry over it, as I have a fair amount of respect, and confidence, he will do just fine when he gets there..... ;) |
