Title: Why not TRY?
Post by justin_o_guy2 on 07/20/17 at 11:04:29

If doctors say they can help,

AND SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY THE BILLS, and IDK if that's true or not yet,

But if so, why not let them Try to save Charlie?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/charlie-gard-doctors-remain-apos-210000919.html

So what if they are Unconvinced?

Simply because:
“A High Court has already ruled”

And it would show clearly,
How, Inept, the UK,  ‘FREE’,   H.C.  System is.

If they did manage to help the boy it would be a Yuge embarrassment.

Quote:
Speaking over video-link, Dr Hirano said he believed there was “at least a 10 per cent” chance that Charlie’s muscle strength could improve and the therapy was “worth trying”.

He also hinted that Charlie may not be permanently brain damaged – as argued by doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

But the doctor admitted he couldn’t assess the amount of permanent brain damage Charlie had suffered – and agreed that a specialist child neurologist should make a final evaluation.

What point is there in improving muscle strength in a severely brain damaged child?...
Maybe they can prolong the agony?...

Why are Pub's so adamant when it comes to saving all life at any cost?,... and against basic healthcare for everyone?...
Willing to throw millions at a brain dead baby,... but refuse poor children a flu shot?...

This baby cannot move, breathe, eat, see, hear, or cry...
Parents are not acting on the baby's behalf...

his baby cannot move, breathe, eat, see, hear, or cry...

Why do you believe people are not reasonable?
If the baby can't be able to live without constant care, can't walk, talk, eat, and have no Quality of Life, then what's the point? He would have been Dead long ago but for the medical magic of keeping something alive via machines. Ohhh, I've TYPED all this, and magically, it is forgotten.

I guess this does do one thing.
It proves Death Panels exist and are agreed with by both sides.
When they give you the Thumbs Down will depend on you.

20 years ago, babies born under 1 lb didn't have much chance of survival.  Today, there's a pretty good chance.

So, if there's only 1 in 10 chance that round the clock care, umpteen procedures to save  a childs (or any person for that matter) life, it's not worth trying?

Where would my kids be today (born 20 yrs ago) if 50 years ago they didn't try and discover the treatments necessary to cure 'hole in the heart birth defect'.  This is not Sparta.

It's a child, not a guinea pig...
At best, it would give the child a more sustainable, but no more liveable existence...

How much of the Decision is based in the Assumption that he is in discomfort? He doesn't Know he can't walk. You lefties have Finally found that
Unviable Mass you're so fond of, and NOW you're just Ate Up with such Empathy that you want it dead.
This is a real opportunity for the miracles of medicine to be put on display and maybe learn a few things. If someone else is doing the work and paying the bills, WTF is your problem?

Human experimentation...
..and you worry about death panels?...

It would be a different matter if there was any hope...

How many babies died before they figured out how to repair a hole in the heart? How many DIED on the table before heart transplants started winning more often than losing?
You're so entrenched in your ideology that reasonable has passed you by.

Doctor Rowboat has declared the boy beyond help, it must be true.
Now, the young girl who wrote about how much colder it was and how much more ice there was, well, SHE wasn't Qualified to Report WHAT SHE SAW, but a Muppet knows what is wrong with a baby thousands of miles away and that Nobody can help.
Yeah, got it.

The difference is there is hope...
This baby has none...
Parents need to let go...  Prolonging life is cruel for them and the baby...

So,.. I'm playing doctor,.. and you're not?...
Don't be daft...
One lone Doctor has some wish to experiment...
The medical community as a whole disagrees...

Once again,.. I see the Right siding with a token outlier that supports their view, instead of the majority of experts...
I'm not playing "doctor",.. I'm listening to them...

You don't have children.
You have no idea what thin hope a parent will cling to.
And, please address the points I've so carefully typed.

Do you think the doctors who are pushing for trying is so they can just torture the baby? Break the parents hearts over and over? You're happy with babies chopped up and vacuumed away, so your attitude is not a shock.

Title: Re: Why not TRY?
Post by Serowbot on 07/21/17 at 11:03:55

Okay,.. you've convinced me...
Keep the baby alive at all costs for as long as medically possible using any means necessary...
No matter what the quality of it's existence will be,.. for the parents sake...

v

It's Not your call. It's an opportunity to save a person, at best, learn something, at worst. Tomorrow may bring another challenge that today's experience might help solve.
