This guy's a typical, sleazy, buck-passing, finger-pointing politician.  If he were in my state, I'd be pretty p!ssed....

Bamicare didn't work out.
Didn't get to keep doctors.
Costs went up.
Way up.
It's worse than I said it would be.
The morale in the hospital is way down.
This is a YUGE screwing.
Yeah, yeah, I know.

It didn't go Far enough.

If YOU supported it, you supported a TURD, While you were being TOLD it was a Turd.
Not ONE of you lefties said
It doesn't go Far enough.
Until someone Fixed the medical care problems by creating HMOs, things were working fine. The crisis was created.
My (Former) doctor is struggling to keep his office afloat.
And if you believe that America is in a position to go Medicare for everyone, you're not thinking.

Um, can't pay our bills?  You sure about that?

Chicago is doing just fine financially, thanks.  Of course, CPS is run terribly, but otherwise - it's the state that is all messed up... so now you've been schooled in that - you're welcome.

As to the shootings - well, again, time for you to be schooled....  Per capita, we're still better off than New Orleans, Detroit, St. Louis, Baltimore and Oakland.  Heck - we don't even break the top 10!!

School is out - now, try to address the original post about the moron who can't answer a question and just deflects... much like you!     ;D

It's off topic, but Since Detroit is the medias Focus regarding shootings, And it's per capita not the worst, why Chicago? Why Not report the worst of the worst? Chicago is plenty bad, and the reports Are factual, I guess.. but why not report on other cities? The NEWS leads people to believe that Chicago is the deadliest place in America. So, the fact that someone is incorrect in their assessment OF Chicago isn't Their Fault.
Just like it's not the Fault of the Dumbmasses that they don't understand how our economic system Actually works.
And, Henry Ford said that was probably a good thing.
Because If we did, there would surely be revolution by morning.
So, yeehaa, you schooled someone.
In so doing you exposed the level of
People Knowing for fact things that just aren't so.
People trust that simply by being aware of what is going on around them they will conclude accurately the truths that they should know. The news, general information gleaned by listening to others who are intelligent and successful, and of course school.
But if you have not looked for information on the federal reserve that exposes its core, you'll never understand what it really is.
And I don't think I can understand WHY Chicago is the focus on the
This weekend in Chicago, everyone got shot, ten lived, headlines.

I was in Chicago last week and it's like all major US cities, only bigger, broker and even more impossible to fix. I drove up from Indy and cut through the south side to pick up Lake Shore Drive heading into downtown. That route takes you through Jackson Park or some name like that. It's an area politicians and elites like to refer to "historical" or "diverse" or if they're gonna  feeling 1% honest, they'll say "economically challenged ".   Regular people  call it a $hithole, getto, 3rd world etc...

In my brief drive through, numerous people just wandered across  the street in traffic expecting cars to stop which is thing on St Louis as well.

Downtown Chicago was great as always; on the outside anyway. If they were a corporation, they'd have to declare bankruptcy and the owners & officers would be brought up on criminal charges. But, it's run by liberal Democrats which means they'll just keep raising taxes until they've bled everyone dry and then you and I will pay for it. That's how it works.

Federal data show that just 20 counties nationwide accounted for half of new businesses created in the U.S. between 2010 and 2014 as it emerged from recession. And Cook was the only county in the Midwest to land on that top 20 list.

Stop being a fool. I travel for work almost every week. last week was Indy and Chicago, this week it's New York. You can search all you want for lies, but you better look within if  you want to find one.

I checked a map and the $hithole I drove through is called Jackson Park. I'm guessing you don't live or hangout there, and for good reason.

And your economic ignorance is showing through, again. Maybe Chicago finished in the top 20 some 4 years ago or some such obscure statistics.
Big woop....  If a man was $100,000 in credit card debt and got a part time job paying $250 a week, but still added $300 a week to his debt, no one (except you I guess) would celebrate his 'progress'.

Again, if Chicago were a person or a corporation, they'd be bankrupt and in jail for fraud. Last week, there were commercials calling for citizens to log complains about the latest theft, the Chicago pop tax. You know, that tax on large sugary sodas like New York did. What a joke. Like anyone believes Chicago government gives a F about health.... it's all about raking in some additional cash to pay for another day.... hell with tomorrow.

Downtown Chicago is great. Fun time as always especially when it's not my money paying twice as much for everything. It's the ultimate nice place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there.

What can I expect from a guy who lives in the sh!thole of St. Louis?  With a higher per-capita murder rate than Chicago, I'd hate my home too.  You'll never see him admit that though.

But to get back to the original post - it's people who support politicians like the one I posted about that are the true problem.

I certainly understand that everyone should have a certain amount of pride in their city and so you should take pride in Chicago. Just don't pretend you're the only one who knows what's going on there.

When McCain and Obama ran against each other, healthcare was THE main topic. Once Obama won, he had something of a mandate to make some changes. He could have made small, incremental changes that would have made some improvements, but he choose cram a program everyone knew would fail and be in the spot it's in today. The insurance companies pulling out, the high premiums, the unbelievable amount of money it's cost us; none of that was a surprise.

He should have adopted McCain's plan to begin forcing health insurance away from being the employers responsibility and coupled that together with his guaranteed minimum coverage ideas to come up with the beginnings of a new concept in health insurance.

Instead, because as a liberal his belief is government first and foremost, he pushed through a bill no one read or understood, including himself.

Single payer will devastate America and in fact, much of the world. We've got to let that idea go.

What is preventing insurance companies from competing across state lines? I keep hearing this topic so I assume there's a regulation preventing this or they have to qualify in each state so the cost is prohibitive.

What would happen if health insurance could be purchased like auto insurance? A few changes such as guaranteed coverage, no cancellation provisions etc... but would it work?

Yep - thanks to the CPD and its gigantic pension ($138K/year now), the city over promised and under delivered. However, when you increase the pay by over 30% in 10 years... well, that has a tendency to cost a lot more... Duh.  That was thanks to daley and company.  Not that I'm any fan of rham, but at least he's tackling it head on.

I don't care if St Louis has a higher murder rate per capita that Chicago.

You know what you lied about so just shut up about it and go back to the topic. Talk about deflection........

Um, he pretty much put forward the same plan the Conservatives created a few years before.

His only failure was he wussed out and didn't put in a public option.

Seriously?  How do you not know that ACA was nearly a carbon copy of romneycare??

Single payer will devastate America and in fact, much of the world. We've got to let that idea go.

HA!!  BS - Tell that to to pretty much every other industrial country on the planet...

What is preventing insurance companies from competing across state lines? I keep hearing this topic so I assume there's a regulation preventing this or they have to qualify in each state so the cost is prohibitive.

Again, if there were a public option, it would have spurred competition.

What would happen if health insurance could be purchased like auto insurance? A few changes such as guaranteed coverage, no cancellation provisions etc... but would it work?

That's how it was before and we had record numbers of people going bankrupt paying their doctor bills.  They'd get the "minimum" policy, get sick, and then find out it covered nothing.

You have no idea who I am, who I know, where in Chicago I live, how long I've lived here, who my neighbors are - NOTHING.

So do me a favor - unless you have PROOF - STFU.

You have no idea what it's like to be a Chicago cop - I DO.  That's pretty much all you need to know.

crappity smack you you piece of nuts. No one on here supports that and you're garbage for suggesting otherwise.

Ladies and gentlemen - I give you webby.  Ain't he just great?
;D ;D ;D

Now go ahead little guy - I dare you to write me another PM....

Ha Ha! You think I care if anyone knows I sent you a PM? What a baby. You think crying to mama is going to freak me out or something. Geez dude, get in the real world....

I don't even remember the topic. I'm guessing I sent it because the censor program would have edited beyond understanding, which it looks like they did.

So, here, let me try interpreting.
crappity smack you you piece of nuts. No one on here supports that and you're garbage for suggesting otherwise.

Crappity Smack I assume means FU. Piece of nuts I guess is $hit. Not sure about the rest.

Here, let me type it out again and let's see how it comes out:

crappity smack you you piece of nuts. No one on here supports that and you're for suggesting otherwise.

Now, I'm guessing no one cares about whatever little personal vendetta you are pursing against me. You lied, I called you out. End of story. If you want to cry about it to me more, do it in a PM. Otherwise, I'm done pointing out the obvious.

If I got a PM like that I would forward it to the mods.
And I would expect prompt, decisive action.
If someone is that wound up about it, take a break.

That's a bit surprising to me Jog. You've never struck me as a thin skinned snowflake who freaks out over words.

Words are all we have here.
And the Attitude TOWARDS someone those words convey really don't need to be so caustic. I disagree and snipe and insult, but if I was so pissed off at someone that I couldn't say what I needed to say on the board, I'd try to ignore them a while. I have a problem with some people, but I don't have a Full Rolling Boil hatred for them. I TRY to not miss a shot at them, but I don't send them hate mail.
I'll bet that I could attack you until you had had enough. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first P.M. , and he's dealt with it in a mature, respectable manner.
Kudos to him.  I am liking him better lately. OCCASIONALLY even agreeing, somewhat.

I've had extremely harsh back and forths with you on multiple occasions over 9/11 and a few other topics. I never one time felt the need to PM because despite the level of disagreement, it was contained. I've often defended you when others lobbed the "tin foil hat" line which is something I think is unfair. TT regularly launches comments like this out of the blue and in fact is the one responsible for a total, hands off approach by the mods lately. He will now become your best buddy since you've 'taken sides' in his little war.

Be a man for once in your life and step up to admit that you're wrong.  You called me a liar.  You have no proof.  You are wrong.

Stop being a snowflake and calling people liars when you don't agree with them.

Civil discourse: TT presented false testimony which in my humble opinion is detrimental to the group.

On a more serious note, since I respect Jog's opinion, I will going forward rarely engage the previously mentioned Garrison Keillor style story-teller and let him off the hook. I say rarely because I reserve the right to correct future falsehoods and statements of ignorance.

What false testimony?

You can not accuse someone without proof.

Either prove it or admit you were wrong.

There are no two ways about it.

Yep - I proposed standards (that were erased, oddly enough).

However, you are correct - civility gets more credence than hostility.  Although, I'm not hostile, I am not accepting of the name "liar" when there is no proof.

Further, I did not initiate any PM with threatening language such that web did - so there is that.

I propose that web rescind calling me a liar so we may put this behind us.

All who care - Please comment.

You proposed standards YOU had spent a coupla Days Not even Almost living up to. Your behavior when you showed up was atrocious. You're not such a jakkass now. We don't need Bullshit rules. As long as someone is willing to acknowledge wrong behavior even from someone who is In the Same Camp and call it.
